Priority Check In- Family Members?

Official policy is that you can check in together, but if boarding has not yet started, they cannot board when you do.

Unofficially, sometimes they will be permitted to wait with you in the suite/elite boarding area and board with you. However, that area can fill up quickly and allowing some people in who do not have suite/elite status to be there can result in some with that status not being allowed to wait there due to the room being full.

The same will apply to your dining privileges.  They will not be allowed to join you for Sabatini/Crown Grill suite breakfasts nor Club Class dining.  You will be able to order tea in your suite and have them join you.

They will not be able to join you for priority tendering.

Depending who is minding the door, they might be able to join you for Platinum, Elite, Suite Happy Hour and/or disembarkation lounge.

If you really wish to check-in and board with them, perhaps you should consider staying with them at check-in in the regular check-in area, instead of trying to take them with you in the priority line and waiting area, and having them accompany you at the time of priority boarding. Since they are not staying in a suite, and have not earned the privilege of priority check-in and boarding, they really don't belong in priority. Taking them with you dilutes the benefit that others have earned through taking many Princess cruises or are booked into suites.

In my experience they do not watch the door to the PES lounge all that well.  They have a sign up PES only but that usually is it.

If everyone with Priority Boarding took friends/ family with them, there would not be Priority Boarding for those who have paid for the status !! (Many cruises or Suites)

If you couldn't use the Priority Check in/ Boarding, because others had taken too many friends and family before you, would you appreciate the wait ?

If you wish to board together, please board with your family in the main line to be considerate of others.

We will be staying in a suite and traveling with my sister and brothers-in-law, who will be in a balcony cabin.  Will they be able to check in and board with us ?

No worries, we've easily done this twice before with Elite Status (not suite). Our reservations were linked by our travel agent. Regardless, I simply said, "they're with us" and we were greeted with big smiles. We also had priority tendering together. Have a wonderful cruise!!!

I’ll try and be useful.  On our current cruise, on Royal, out of Los Angeles this was our experience which differed from other Princess cruises from other ports and other shops:

* ours was an OM cruise and we received our Medallions in advance.

* upon entering the hall everyone, regardless of status received a group card starting with 1.

* passengers were split in to Have Medallions and Don’t Have Medallion groups.

* Medallion group went to the first available Medallion check in agent.

* At this point group cards were exchanged where applicable to Elite or Suite group cards (starting with “Elite A”) where appropriate.

* Leaving the Medallion check in area Elites were directed towards the lounge.  Others were directed upstairs to the holding room.

i assume but don’t actually know that the Don’t Have Medallion stream worked similarly.

i can say that boarding was very much delayed by late processing of the inbound.  Elite boarding didn’t start until 12:15.  Still all were aboard by 2:00 or thereabouts.

hope this helps.

We brought our mobility-impaired/easily fatigued elderly relatives with us through the priory elite check-in line, and no one seemed to mind.  However, it was about 1:00 p.m., and there were minimal lines, and no waiting areas.

We were equally late in boarding the tenders, so there were no tickets and no priority.

For disembarkation, we "snuck" this couple in with us to the Wheelhouse which was designated as an Elite waiting room, but the place had already thinned out and we did not deprive anyone of seats.

We never brought them to any of the Elite events, because we don't go.

And as far as check-in, sometimes the line for regular folk is shorter than the line for platinum/elite.suite.

Possibly because there is a high number of Premium/Elite/Suite guests..but possibly because too many people have taken friends and family through the P/E/S check in.

Not wishing to appear unkind, but if guests need additional assistance, maybe they should request it from the cruise line.
