Thank You for your replies so far. Was it warm travelling down the coast to N.Z.?

On the ship now that you are in 

N.Z.can you just wear summer clothes or do you need a jacket on there as well.

Today was the first day I haven’t just had pants  (trousers) and short sleeve shirt, I actually had a long sleeve denim shirt over the short sleeve one as I was a bit cold, Mrs Gut feels the cold more than I do so on a few days has had a light cardigan or jumper over her top and most days Knee length shorts or skirt

In the USA a jumper was something women wore many years ago.  I'm not sure how to describe it as I'm not a woman but it was a one piece thing like a dress that was worn over a blouse.

In Australia, what you described and is shown in the link would be called a pinafore.

 

A jumper here is what you call a sweater.
