VTcruisenut Posted January 20, 2020 #1 Share Posted January 20, 2020 Anyone ever stayed in the "N" cabins on the Veendam? It looks like there are 2 of these cabins located behind the infirmary. It says "large interior" sleeps 4 so I am assuming it has the pull out sofa. We are a Casino offer and couldn't choose our cabin and our booking has consistently listed us as an "N" interior guarantee. Would not be my choice to be in the front of the ship, but hey, it's a freebie cruise! Please if you have sailed in one, give me your thoughts! Rare kazu Posted January 20, 2020 #2 Share Posted January 20, 2020 There are pics of 705 on the Maasdam (sister ship - with the same N cabins). https://halfacts.com/705-maasdam-i/

They should still be pretty accurate. The S & R ships (of which the Veendam is one) do not have the newer TV’s

One interesting piece of info is that Amsterdam (and only Amsterdam) is quoted to have “On Demand TV” as of May 2020. I will sail her in July 2020. Source is the table of ship amenities (PDF file) on HAL site. Sorry do not have the link handy. Edited January 20, 2020 by Cruise4food Added image file. VTcruisenut Posted January 20, 2020 Author #6 Share Posted January 20, 2020 The Veendam doesn't have a Sea View Bar? there are 3 listed on the pdf form..............
Rare 3rdGenCunarder Posted January 20, 2020 #7 Share Posted January 20, 2020 Veendam doesn't have a Sea View Pool, so there's no "Sea View Bar." Now there's a bunch of soaking tubs back there instead of a pool. I'm pretty sure there's a bar back there, but it isn't called "Sea View." HAL really needs to change that name. It's totally different from the Retreat areas with cabanas on other ships.

That poster said it was "quiet as a church" at sea but when we once had 712 my DH couldn't sleep at night because of the roar of the bow wave all night. Maybe 700 and 707 are forward of where the wave breaks, but bring ear plugs just in case. Edited February 22, 2020 by catl331
dfish Posted February 22, 2020 #13 Share Posted February 22, 2020 We had one of the N cabins a number of years ago. It was a good cabin. The only complaint was noise in the morning when we were coming into port. We were always up by then, but late sleepers might be bothered. There was plenty of room in the cabin. HAL4NOW Posted February 23, 2020 #14 Share Posted February 23, 2020 We booked an N guarantee but ended up in a K interior cabin. Like you said, there are only two N cabins on the Veendam.
