Rare WrittenOnYourHeart Posted February 21, 2020 Author #251 Share Posted February 21, 2020 I will try to throw some pictures up waiting for my bus at the Turtle Center. I snorkeled in the lagoon and cannot wait to put those pics in my computer (they were with my waterproof camera). My fruity drink from yesterday! Here is the iguana I was stalking during the tequila tasting. First from my seat and then from when I scampered over closer Lunch at Pancho’s Backyard (I did not see a size option for the margarita)... It was super delicious!! And the bracelet I bought. I loved the sparkly ones with sapphires and such, but those were out of my price range for sure! I love my bracelet though!! I will do dailies and such when I am back onboard. 7

So much that I have Apex booked for 3 cruises - next February (same itinerary as this one, but Edge (Eastern route) was about $1K more, so...there were things I debated between excursion-wise, and maybe we'll actually get to Costa Maya so I can hit Maya Chan) and then B2B for my birthday in summer 2021 (again, itinerary trumped Edge - but since they are essentially twins... 🙂 ...should be great). Rare WrittenOnYourHeart Posted February 22, 2020 Author #259 Share Posted February 22, 2020 Dinner in OVC - blissfully calm, and no need to dress up - and successfully made it to The Club for Mirage!! I tried yesterday but at about 7:20 there were no seats with a good view.
NCHPcruiser Posted February 22, 2020 #260 Share Posted February 22, 2020 Love the pineapple drink (right up my alley), the margarita and the bracelet! We love Pancho’s Backyard and have been twice, though the one we went to was a 10 minute taxi ride from the port.

I want to do it again!! Because Captain Kate had done it and I’d told her I was doing it, she said I had to let her know how it was, so at the Bvugari “Grand Opening” (in quotes as it seems to be an every cruise thing) I showed her one of my pics and we gushed about it, and then she said “Wait! We have to recreate the look for a picture!” And the result is probably my favorite cruise photographer pic taken ever out of my now 14 cruises (and I have 6 Disney cruises under my belt): Such a great pic. I was bummed when I found out Capt Kate left equinox a bit before out last September cruise. I wanted my wife, a sgt with LAPD to meet her. Two strong women who busted through the glass ceiling.

Rare WrittenOnYourHeart Posted February 22, 2020 Author #265 Share Posted February 22, 2020 Currently hanging in the theater - first up is a talk by Dan Benedict that is about something to do with astronomy (I have not made his others as I’d get distracted and realize it too late) as a prequel to Captain Kate’s Q&A. She just did morning announcements and said that “as a bribe” on a beautiful if windy sea day she would be bringing Bug with her, so I’m sure it will fill up. I was a hobbit at breakfast - went to Cosmopolitan for breakfast and asked about gluten-free pancakes. My server said he would ask so I said “If so, then those. If not, an egg white omelette with spinach, tomato, and feta. Bacon on the side.” Well, my pancakes came with bacon. Then when I was almost finished he brought the omelette. Hello second breakfast. Lol. I only ate about half. It is super windy today, but thus far the IVs have not been locked without an announcement in the dailies about cleaning. Got a fun drink a friend made once - a Love Potion 42 (2 parts Absolut Raspberri, 1 part Grenadine, 2 parts Cranberry Juice) and it is yummy!! I did a video of my cabin and will post the YouTube link when it uploads.

gfkcruiser Posted February 22, 2020 #269 Share Posted February 22, 2020 Great video! just booked a cruise on Edge for 2\14\22. I was viewing the deck plan and see there are not a lot of sunning areas. Did you have any issues with finding a chaise on sea days?
Dunmore2 Posted February 22, 2020 #270 Share Posted February 22, 2020 If I missed a speaker, it was nice to find their “recorded” talk on the tv. Plus you can pause the talk and pick it up later when you wish. I don’t recall which channel, probably 10. It was great when I realized I really enjoyed a talk and could go back and find ones I’d missed.
jj6961 Posted February 22, 2020 #271 Share Posted February 22, 2020 Thank you soooo much for posting the single cabin video. I cruise a lot solo, this room wouldn’t work for me because of the lack of storage . This is the first video tour I’ve seen really appreciate all the time you took live posting. I sailed Edge in January and will be back in April, didn’t expect to like it as much as it did. Totally different experience then any other ship, love that it’s so fresh and new.
bama4cruisin Posted February 22, 2020 #272 Share Posted February 22, 2020 Thank you for taking the time to post live! We board the Apex 8 months from today and I have really enjoyed "getting to know this class" of ship. I realize there are very strong opinions pro and confor the IV, so we'll find out. While we have typically loved our balcony, on the British Isles cruise last year we probably spent a total of 3-4 hours on the balcony on an 11-night cruise due to the temps and the wind, and the Apex cruise will be a westbound TA. Think we'll enjoy! Now to wait those 8 months!

But there seemed to be a lot of chairs between the Resort Deck and the deck and a half above it. I’ve seen way more complaints about not enough shade. Incidentally, those “never used” cabanas have been pretty much booked solid this cruise. Maybe one occasionally was not booked, but every time I have walked by there have either been people in them or they have been set up for reservations. Rare WrittenOnYourHeart Posted February 22, 2020 Author #274 Share Posted February 22, 2020 A few pics from Capt Kate’s talk... Yes, Bug is meowing into the mic in the final one. We could hear her backstage and she chatted all around the stage! Sooooo cute!! It was a fun talk! (Incidentally - because I know someone a few weeks ago seemingly created an account merely to complain about Bug - she is not the only, or even the first, Captain in the RCCL family to have a pet. There is a parrot, a dog, and a pair of cats at least who travel with their Captain parents!) 4
sonnycruises Posted February 22, 2020 #275 Share Posted February 22, 2020 Couldn't agree more on lack of shade on Edge particularly on the Retreat Sundeck. We blamed Hoppen for that too along with the other non functional design and FURNITURE issues. 1
