twinklles Posted May 23, 2020 #226 Share Posted May 23, 2020 Champaign tonight. Our credits appeared today. But let me tell you how utterly incompetent Seabourn is. We called them yesterday (Friday May 22, 2020). They would only say that our credits would appear sometime after June 1, 2020. Well the credits on the statement are dated May 18 and May 19. So when we called, they had actually already issued the credits they simply had not shown up on our statement, but the clerk did not know that. So long Seabourn, wasn't nice meeting you. (This was to be our first Seabourn cruise. We had done five Silversea cruises over that past two years and decided that we needed to branch out and try the other three.) Had absoluetly NOTHING to do with the credit card company The problem is the fact that the Seabourn clerk either didn't really look for the status or Seabourn failed to post in their system that the credits had been approved and sent to the credit card company. The status should have been that the credits had been approved by Seabourn and that it would take approximately a week to appear on the credit card online report. Yes, credits usually take a couple of days to appear on the credit card report and the clerk probably was allowing extra time as most companies do but, certainly should have informed the customer that the credit had been approved at Seabourn and sent to the credit card company. I for one, am happy to rebook with Seabourn. It makes a huge difference having the Refund back in your bank account. Like many, I was angry and frustrated with the lack of communication and missed deadlines, I just needed to be more patient.

You wield the language as a warrior wields a sword, although, your reading comprehension skills appear to be lacking. Let's explore where your comprehension skills let you down. Let's parse what I wrote in detail:"let me tell you how utterly incompetent Seabourn is." Well that sentence seems to refer to a commercial organization that apparently is not well organized. It establishes the subject of the paragraph. No clerk is mentioned. "they had actually already issued the credits they simply had not shown up on our statement, but the clerk did not know that." The pronoun "they" refers to an organization, not an individual. If we were referring to an individual, the pronoun would have been "he." Moreover, the phrase "the clerk did not know that," is not critical of the clerk. It was a criticism of the lack of knowledge that was available to the clerk. In the context of the incompetence of Seabourn, the subject of the paragraph, it refers to the customer service system that Seabourn had supplied the clerk so that the clerk would know how to respond to customer inquiries. Let's also explore for just a minute the underlying cause of Seabourn's atrocious customer service. Seabourn attempted to excuse their incompetence by saying they were manually processing our refunds. Have you yet discovered what that means? Here is what it means. Seabourn was forcing its customers to wait for Seabourn to do its accounting before they were issuing the refunds. "Processing" is the allocation of the refund to taxes, air fare, cruise fare and the like. That is Seabourn's accounting. It has nothing to do with paying us. A classy organization would have issued the refunds on a timely basis, and did their accounting on their own time. We should not be waiting for Seabourn to do its internal accounting.

JPH814 Posted May 23, 2020 Author #235 Share Posted May 23, 2020 Dear Twinklles You requested your refund on March 15 and it was processed on May 18( 69 calendar days , arguably 51 business days) and it appeared on you card 4 day later. whystayhome Posted May 23, 2020 #236 Share Posted May 23, 2020 Everybody please play nicely. JPH814 - thank you for compiling the list of who asked for what when and when they were reimbursed. It's helpful and gives one hope. I'm out only about $15,000, which is a lot, but not compared to what others are owed. BTW, I just tried to call Seabourn to see if a rather considerable FCC has been posted to my account, and they are no longer open on the weekends. New hours: 8:30-5:30 PDT. Our agent was then called and asked to verify what has occurred re cruise and air/travel credits. Agent confirmed cruise was 'refunded' by SB to my Ax on 30th April. Other charges are pending and 5 weeks plus to go approximately. So, the refund is done, thanks to Amex dispute, (otherwise I am sure I would still be waiting). The full cruise refund is safely mine. The ancillary costs of over 3k are still in the never ending queue of silence... Hope this helps zimflyer & swaxxy - I noticed that both of you are still waiting for air compensation. I am listed only for Tax refund (approaching 90 days) but I was also waiting for air compensation. SB finally recognized my claim for $2400+ but wants to compensate me in FCC rather than CC refund - not acceptable to me. Have either one of you received such an offer for air compensation? No, the SB cone of silence continues. No offer of added FCC instead of refund and no sign of refund. Dates to refund have varied from 60 days initially, to 8 to 12 weeks. Bobal Posted May 24, 2020 #241 Share Posted May 24, 2020 (edited) Very happy to report that 74 days after Seabourn cancelled our 5 May cruise (on 11th March) the full refund has appeared on our credit card this morning. We emailed then on 21st May to chase and were advised that the refund had been put through the day before but I didn't post that on here as didn't want to tempt fate. It does appear that the cancellations made during that week in March are starting to filter through, which seems to confirm what was said in post #186. And thank you to the OP for starting this thread. It gave me a little hope when refunds started to come through so hopefully will do the same for others as more people get refunded Edited May 24, 2020 by Bobal

We are getting a FCC for the cruise as we cancelled before SB and have received prompt CC refund for excursions. But still waiting for taxes which must be in cash and was approved for air compensation but offered FCC for that. That is a separate charge from the cruise fare and should be refunded in cash/CC and not FCC. Both have been disputed with the CC company - results pending. sfvoyage Posted May 25, 2020 #246 Share Posted May 25, 2020 My refund finally showed up on my credit card account tonight (24May), although Seabourn told me they had processed it on 20May. (However, the refunded amount excluded the 2 FCDs that were applied to the cancelled booking and were charged on a different credit card which has since been closed by me.) For those who had applied FCDs to their cancelled booking, did you get a cash refund for the FCDs, or did SB reinstate them for future use?
