. . .  No more twirling of the napkins in the MDR. (Much to the delight of some people) . . .

😃 Wheeee!! 😃

I, admittedly, fall into that category.

I've hated it since the very first experience, and avoid it as often as possible.

I believe once a vaccine is developed, this will be no more of an issue than influenza is (which is also a coronavirus). The smart will get vaccinated one a year and be protected (just like the flu) and the stupid will do what they always do.

Norovirus is much more of a concern to me because people just can't seem to figure out how important it is keeping your hands clean and there is no vaccine available for that. Smart people have it figured out, but you just can't fix stupid/lazy.

So soon enough - things will return to normal (just may take a year or two).

As a retired nurse, we use to say, “you can’t fix stupid, but you can sedate it” I agree with everything you said. I know that I will be the first in line for a vaccine when it becomes available. As for Norovirus, I’ve gone on cruises more prepared than the average person, with plenty of hand sanitizers and wipes, along with Zoono, the ONLY OTC hand sanitizer effective against Norovirus. It is a 24 hour foam sanitizer that does not contain alcohol.

Attention everyone, this is not the flu, stop the denying. Getting close to 75,000 deaths in the U.S. not in a year, in 2 months and it's growing exponentially every day

No its not the flu...its a different virus...one that over half the people who get it dont even have a symptom...99.5 percent of people who test postive recover.

It is not going to go away...so unless you are looking to hide in your house forever, we will be living with it.    I am a type 2 diabetic...i am vulnerable...i am not living in fear.     Just like any other virus...it doesnt worry me.

For those who dont want to go anywere..or on a cruise...nobody is making you.   There are lots of people waiting to get on board and enjoy.

Since only 40-50 percent even get a flu vaccine (I am one who does not, i am not an anti vaxxer, just dont do flu or this new vaccine ..if it ever is developed), what makes people think anymore than that will get this one?

Even the flu vaccine is only about 55 percent effective.    There will be no magic pill.

No hand sanitizer is more effective than plain old soap and water. As for Noro, if the FDA didn't approve it, it didn't happen.

I think some strict measures and policy will be applied. I mean, all cruise companies are taking all those measures quite seriously. So get ready to wear a mask on board and wash your hands with sinister on every corner of the ship.. and probably no buffet

I'm not too sure about "no buffet"....just a different buffet.

The main issue is leaving space between people.  It's really impossible to keep 6 feet apart....but room to move between tables in the dining room is achievable. As they are now, it's like 2 inches...not even possible for a private conversation.

There are ways to make it better in the theatre, like, adding matinees...with reserved seating and a space between each group.

Less chairs on the lido but more attention to get rid of chair hogs.

Casino could have plexiglass between each slot.

All this is gonna cost...and those who are looking for a cheap vacation won't be cruising.

exactly. I have multiple already booked. I’m on one of the first sailings out of Galveston if Vista goes. But I can say I will axe it instantly if a mask were required.

I don’t see anyway masks are not a requirement to cruise whenever cruising starts again.  I think that will be one of many requirements per the CDC before cruises are allowed to resume.

People aren't thinking outside of the box and are self-limiting.

A group at the University of Pennsylvania is trying to train dogs to see if they could be useful in detecting covid-19. Technology might have answers too - Biosensors to detect presence of the virus in a room or for that matter on or in a person. We are only limited by our imagination.

Of course, hand washing works best, but you aren’t always in an area where you can wash. Thus, hand sanitizers are needed. And Zoono has been proven to prevent Norovirus.

Other products have been shown to work on Noro but if they advertise it, sooner or later they will hear from the FDA. When something claims to prevent infection from pathogens, it is making a drug claim and is up to the FDA to regulate.

its going to be a little bit more of a pain in the butt like airports after 911.  more checks, screenings and maybe space given in lines.  more sanatizing stations and all. but pretty much the same.

I would say a cruise will cost u more to sail   put  less people maybe half up to able to space them out . Charge them according . If people really want to cruise . The casino would be way less crowded everything would be less crowded. Until they get a vaccine its only way I see it working . No way u can fill a ship . It wont work . Too limited of a space.

if it is, I’ll cancel. Simple as that. I cruise to relax and get away, not wear a mask and make myself MORE concerned about worldly problems.

if cruise lines do in fact require masks we all can forget cruising until 1) a vaccine 2) heard immunity or 3) ever cruising again, because the general public won’t tolerate it.

I'm all for common sense, but masks on a cruise ship won’t sell at all. If the lines all try it they will get pushback like you have never seen. Most of us that have booked (or rebooked) will cancel.

Yeah...I will keep hiding.  DH and I are currently recovering.  We just got back from a walk in Central Park...where the "Tent Hospital" is still set up.

Those, like you, who are unaffected can be so so brave.

As far as 2 in a cabin....if that's what it takes to alleviate "population density" they certainly can and will do it.

Enjoy your cruises...please report back here.

I will report back!!

I am hardly "unaffected"   my son and his wife had it...took 4 weeks to recover..they are fine.   I am a type 2 insulin diabetic...may have had it...had the symptoms but never tested.

I wont live my life in fear....my father  worked super hard all his life to have all these plans when he retired at 64---6 months after he retired ...he died.   Didnt get to do a damn thing.    I will not live my life hiding.    Every day could be my last and i wont waste them.

BTW ...we have 3 in our cabin for our next 3 cruises (starting august on the breeze)....me, dd and my 79 year old mom (who said she is not cancelling for ANY reason).   We will be good!!!

So people laying out on lounge chairs in the sun will be wearing masks?

People in the pools and hot tubs will be wearing masks?

People eating meals and drinking at the bars will be wearing masks?

No way ever....that just isnt happening.

I wear a mask in public, as it is a requirement where I live. It is NOT a requirement to go on a cruise. Big difference.  I won’t go on a vacation and be required to wear a mask. But only time will tell.

If you had told me last year cruise lines would suspend operations for multiple months I would have said the same thing...no way ever. If you think the CDC is going to allow cruising anytime soon without requiring masks, you are kidding yourself. I think there will be exceptions like in the MDR, but no doubt masks will be a requirement IF cruising resumes any time soon. Now if cruising doesn’t resume until the distant future when this virus is under control and/or there is a vaccine, than I agree masks will not be required.

Oh, I’m ready to go with mine! Lol! I just joked to my hubby that if we need them for our January Journey cruise (14 days) I better get some cute ones to match my cocktail dresses for sitting at the Alchemy Bar. I do think masks may be the “new normal” for quite awhile. But then, as a New Yorker with high case and death rates, that is my perspective. 😷

I live in Albany NY, So I do get it. But I myself would still cancel if that’s the case, and I would cancel all the bookings I have for the next few years. I would wait until the cruise lines quit requiring masks to book.

That would only help to a certain extent.   If someone that has it coughs while playing that machine without covering their mouth, then the germs are now all over the machine.  If it's not disinfected before you sit down, now you risk the chance of catching it.

That’s where carrying a travel size pack of wipes comes in. I always have a pack in my purse wherever I go, and did so long before this pandemic. Just an old germaphobe retired nurse here.

The title of this thread is "What Will New Age Sailings Look Like"

People are only commenting about "pre-end of pandemic" sailings...and not being afraid to be the first one on the ship, wearing masks, using wipes etc.

I'm interested to hear what you think will be in, let's say, 2 years from now....permanent changes, not band-aides.

As I said before...I see a cut down of density and increase in price.  In 2 years I do hope we are out of "social distancing" and I'd like to get a chair on the lido that has a few inches between me and the next guy.  To accomplish this Carnival will have a new target market.
