Is there a way to cash out your onboard credit? Because I have way more than I will use, and I thought I read on here once that you could do it through the casino? I've never had this issue before, so didn't really pay attention to the details

There's always the casino method. Put your S & S card in a machine and download OBC to your casino bank, play a few rounds and then cash out at the cashier.

Had to chime in on this one because this is on my checkin info…literally from Carnival advising it can be used before the cruise (which is in 14 days)

I just went to my booking which is in 5 weeks and sure enough, it shows the same thing saying "some on-board credits are now available to use before your cruise".  I can't seem to figure out how to do that or what can I use it on??

We have a lot of OBC also, but I think it is going to get chewed up fast. We have $900 currently and it will be $1,000 soon. ~$325 will go to daily service fees. That eats up a little more than 50% of the canceled cruise OBC. We found an email address to request a reservation at restaurants. They gladly do it so you can pay with OBC once on the ship. That will eat another $108 of the OBC. I am fairly certain the remainder of the canceled cruise OBC will be for souvenirs. The other ~$400 we have can be used in the casino or for whatever else we want.

Could you give me the email address so that I too can take advantage of it.

Thanks

You can buy gift cards with your OBC at the candy shop on the ship in amounts of $100 to $1000 and use them to pay for your next cruise.

This is interesting.  I've got a four day cruise booked for next May with $650 in OBC.   My wife was planning to blow it in the spa, but now maybe I'll fight for buying some gift cards.

I’m happy to hear this. I hope it still works in Nov 2022.  😊

I’ve got this too and I couldn’t pay for anything I tried with it (excursion and steak house).

Huh?  This is pre-cruise you're trying?  I know you know Carnival and cruising, IIRC.

Because once on the ship it's easy to use for excursions and the steak house.

The OBC you got from for taking a FCC cannot be cashed out. It's use it or lose it. It also cannot be used to purchase gift cards. John Heald has addressed this several times.

We have always been able to use FCC OBC in the casino, are you saying this has changed?

Can I use my onboard account (Sail & Sign card) to get funds in the casino?

Yes, there is no charge at the slot machines for using your onboard account card to access funds. For any transactions done at a table game or the Casino Cashier’s Desk, there is a small service fee of 3% each transaction. You can charge on your Sail & Sign card to play in the casino as follows:

  • Non-event cruises: $5,000 USD per day
  • Invite-only cruises (Premier / Ultra / Premier Plus / Getaway / Tournaments):  $7,500 USD per day
  • Elite cruises:  $10,000 USD per day

There is a difference in getting funds in the casino, and getting FCC OBC in the casino. FCC OBC is the $300/$600 that everyone got for rebooking a cruise and not cancelling. I currently have $1800 OBC on my next cruise. I will only be able to cash out some of that, not all of it since some is FCC OBC.

He seems to be talking specifically about going up and cashing out, like at guest services/the cage - like without even using it in your player bank. You can use your OBC in the casino (“charge to cabin”) and you can certainly cash out your player bank  at the end.

I mean just think about it- you can gamble with the OBC but you can’t collect your winnings? That wouldn’t make sense.

You can use your OBC that you got for rebooking in the casino, yes. You however cannot load it all to your card, take a spin, then go to the cage and cash out. They have stopped this. You can cash out any OBC that you got from price drops but not the $300/$600 OBC you got for rebooking with FCC. You also cannot buy gift cards with that OBC either.

I wonder how they keep track of what is the $600 FCC and what is regular OBC?  Sounds like I cannot buy a gift card with the FCC funds, but could with the OBC that I got when booking?

I am sure it's "stacked" (for lack of better term) just like it would be if you added gift cards to your account. Then that OBC is earmarked or something. I honestly don't know, just my best guess. 😎

Just a little confusing…so I can use some of the rebooking OBC in the Casino?  Download about $100 of it and play the slots?  If I won $20, could I cash out $120…..or would they only give me $20?   I didn’t rebook with an FCC I don’t think.  When advised that my cruise had been cancelled, I simply phoned and booked another cruise. I didn’t have an FCC .

Thanks for helping to straighten out this old brain, LOL.

You can use all of the OBC regardless if it's promotional, FCC, whatever anywhere on the ship, including in the casino. Say you have $600 OBC for taking the FCC. You can put $600 in the machine. If you win $1,000 in the machine, then you'll get paid $1,000. You've won that. That's yours. If you win $601, you get $601, that's yours as you won it. You just can't put $601 in a machine, spin once for $1 then get $600 back in cash from the cage. (assuming that $600 OBC is from the FCC, as mentioned).

Anything that you win, is yours.

If you had a cruise booked that was cancelled due to Covid and you called and rebooked another cruise and moved those funds to the new cruise and didn't get a refund, then you should have some OBC from that. Likely $300 or $600 depending on the duration of the cruise that was cancelled.

Thank you!  I did receive $600 OBC for rebooking a cancelled cruise and another $50 that was attached to that particular booking.  I don’t seem to have trouble spending money..🤣..just want to do it wisely..😉

Anyone that has cruised recently care to weigh in on YOUR ACTUAL experience? Please if you are only repeating what “John Heald says” no need to share. I’m interested in what actual cruisers have experienced on recent sailings. Thank you for your input 🙂. I will be sailing in a couple weeks and would live to have your insight.
