Princess is Giving Away Cruises Now

I received the OP offer as well.  It's just not as good as it says.  Can't believe Princess would bait and switch but they did.  This was my 3rd casino offer in the last few months. I booked the first 2.  Everything in the first 2 email offers was honored.  But the 3rd email said: Inside cabin, $50 and then Princess Plus included, was added in the next section's wording.  I called multiple times.  The only thing they said they would give me is the Inside Cabin (comp).  My husband was shocked and said I should push for what is in the email offer.  So I did.  Princess customer service (or whatever it's called) held tight, answer was no.  I didn't push further because I know they're hurting and I feel bad for them.  Outside of the pandemic I would have pushed further.  The casino marketing dept sent out a sloppy email, offering things, but didn't honor it.  And to let one of the above posters know, I last sailed in October, 10 day Grand Princess.  I gamble some but never enough to get a free cruise from Princess, just reduced.  But the Princess cruises I've been on have all been comped through casinos from Vegas.

all Cruise casino slot machines are bound to be tight.
the loss percent could be 20% or more

Overall, you are probably right.  But, we've seen some pay out pretty well, usually for other passengers.  But, we've had a few times where they were all as good, if not better, than a visit to Vegas.  It's just the cost of entertainment.

Princess is fronting the Casino offers but they are not paying for them. The casino is a sperate operation (though owned by Carnival Corp) Just as Ocean Casino is a completley differnt company. At one point a couple of years ago Carnival was using Konami's Synchros Managment that has everything wired to the Penny including Players Clubs and Perks.

Offering gamblers good deals is smart business.   The only way to really win at the casino is to own the place :).  While most gamblers (especially slot players) insist they usually win the reality is that, over time, nearly all gamblers lose.  Casinos are a major profit center for cruise ships.

The offers seem to be monthly from the casino now. We were last on Princess two years ago and we've gotten one each of the last three months. Also received the OPs offer including Princess Plus, which they apparently didn't intend to offer because we're still going back and forth with them on honoring that offer they put out. But even if they don't we will still take the comp cruise we booked and be happy.

The way they are making money, or cashflow if you will, is by making it a 'free' room by way of a $200pp deposit that you get back as onboard credit. So the 'free' room ends up costing ~$700 after taxes and port charges.

Loose: Pays out well. Easier to leave a winner.

Tight: Barely pays out. Difficult to win.

At US land based casinos States may have regulations which require slots to pay a minimum amount, for example 92%, 88%. Depends on the State. Some casinos have better payouts than the required minimums. But over time the casino always wins that is how they stay in business. On cruise ships no such regulations exists. Slots can be set for whatever the passengers will accept and each slot can be set differently if so desired.

In Las Vegas, if you do not like the payouts in one casino, you can simply go to hundreds of other casinos to try your luck.

The cruise companies know there is no such alternative while at sea.
