It can't be a casino offer if they haven't sailed since 2009 so how does everyone feel about this? I'm still waiting for a full refund from a cancelled cruise and see Princess giving away cruises!

Please notice the first line... Let's PRETEND.     The post is just for fun and some enjoyable day dreaming.

It's not a real offer.

I  the sounded offer was real. In  Her post she asked specific questions about food venues and dress codes which aren't pretend. She asked if cookies and milk were still being served.

It actually was a casino offer, and I do want to apologize  for posting about the free room. They might be reaching deep to get people booked. I was surprised to get the offer.

I do understand your frustrations. I am awaiting a refund from Holland America, where they sold the ship I was to travel on in November. I guess I should have read some of the forum posts before including the comment. I do aplogize.

It would be a casino marketing attempt to get new interest from prior customers. There are no current funds spent beyond the current employee staffing, so no real effect on any refunds pending to customers. I'm not certain how the financials of these promos work when a customer accepts a casino offer. Suspect at the time of sailing there may be some funds from the casino operator to fully or partially pay for the cabin.

So how much do you have to play in the casino on a typical 7 night Cruise in order to get free Cruise?

Does it depend on how much cash you play or how much cash you lose or how many hours you spend at the casino?

The OP hasn't sailed in years. At this point, the cruise lines just want warm bodies with positive bank account balances...they are trying to bring folks back that haven't sailed in years, as the regulars are all tapped out with multiple reservations/refunds to deal with.

Even before this nonsense began, the criteria for a free or discounted cruise wasn't too hard to meet.

Surely, the casino host company would expect to recover much more than the cost of the stateroom from the player!

How could they even know what to expect from someone who hasn't cruised since 2009?  I see the premise of getting people to cruise but why not reward their most loyal cruisers first. If I got a free cruise I would jump in too so I don't begrudge the OP her cruise, I just wish Princess would be so generous to those of us who have been sailing with them every year for many cruises.

There are many startup businesses, especially those online, which give huge discounts, buy 1 get 1 free & coupons only to new customers.
while old customers get nothing.

this is done to fool the venture capitalists that the number of customers is growing rapidly and that business is booming while their costs keep on rising and they are usually in losses because of these 30- 50% discounts or buy one get one free

Why give something away for free to someone who's already a paying customer?

They are trying to bring fresh blood/$$ into circulation.

not free, not us, but a free upgrade from an inside to a mini ... on a 7 day Caribbean cruise

sitting at a beach break, off a Princess excursion, a few years ago ... the 'mature' couple too our left was doing the 'ole humble brag about all the fab places they had been to all over the world on Princess cruise ships, and their future bookings, blah, blah, blah

couple of girls, mid 20's to our right were giggling about how it was their first cruise, ever, and they got the free upgrade to the mini

the 'mature' couple to our left heard that and responded very loudly that they had NEVER been given a free upgrade on over __ cruises with Princess and were certainly going to talk to customer relations when back on board

it happens 🍻

You can find similar discussions about being "Elite".  Reward the "good" customer, or figure they will  be back and reward (to encourage) a new customer.

The "hook" always has to be better than the actual "prize".

We got a casino offer a couple of years ago. Not for a "free" cruise, but for a significant discount. The only time we (actually DH) plays in the casino is when we have non-refundable OBC that we can't/don't want to spend. Near the end of the cruise, DH will put the non-refundable OBC into the casino account, play the slots for 10-20 minutes, then cash out. And that (apparently) was enough for a casino offer. No one actually knows exactly how much or what type of play it takes. The only thing we DO know is that you have to play to get an offer.

We used the discount to book 5 cruises.

  • I just got my first "free room" offer from another cruise line (HAL).  Was quite surprised since I came out ahead by about $100 by the end of the cruise--a first for me!  It was a transatlantic cruise so I had a lot of free time to play the slots--pretty much stuck to two machines.  We've cruised a lot more on Princess so I have put a lot more money into their slots with no subsequent offers 😪

We've only sailed with HAL once, and they've been sending us free offers ever since. We finally took them up on it.

Princess has always been generous with 35% off, and we prefer Princess over HAL, but a free cruise is hard to turn down.

I should add that we are hardly heavy-hitters....I've seen bar bills bigger than what I've spent in the casino over a week.

If Princess would give me the same deal as HAL, I'd be a very happy man......but I won't hold my breath.

My father told me when I was just a kid Anthony nothing is free sooner or later you will have to pay for it.
I was just thinking Maybe not if you’re pretending. 😳 😁

The Captain of The Rowboat,

How big a casino does the Rowboat have?

Are the slots loose or tight?
