Medallion App Glitch?

When the Medallion app is opened on my wife's phone, the countdown to sailing shows the cruise we cancelled due to Covid-19. It doesn't show up on my phone, or in the Cruise Personalizer online. Any thoughts on how to remove it? I've already tried uninstalling then reinstalling the app, and I called Princess and got no help there.

It will disappear after the cruise was scheduled to sail.

Why would Princess spend the time/money/effort to remove cancelled sailings from their app's schedule?

Let them use that time to process refunds instead.

To make the app useful?

If one were to cancel one cruise, and book another,

most users would want the countdown clock to show the

time to the cruise they actually intend to embark on...

While a few people will defend anything princess does, no matter what.

I'm with you 100%. Such glitches, while not earth-moving, erode faith in the accuracy of the rest of the app.

When I read cruise critic, I read constant complaints about princess.

I waited on hold...

I couldn't get through...

I haven't gotten my refund...

It seems like the best course of action for folks would be to follow your advice, and

simply stop dealing with princess forever.

What a waste of time and money.

It's not going to cost any more to fix it now than to fix it later.

But, I know ... to some folks ... everything princess does is perfect.

Regardless, I never suggested a timeframe for when it should be

fixed...

And, it is absurd to assume that if the app developers had free time,

they would be processing refunds.

Hmmmm.....let me see...should I spend money on a contract for developers to remove nonexistent sailings from an app that's currently serving no purpose, or should invest in man hours to process refunds?? Decisions, decisions.

I disagree that the app is serving no purpose.

Princess is still trying to sell cruises, they have sales, email campaigns, etc.

To some extent they need customer confidence, interest and enthusiasm.

Broken things do not provide that.

Actually, I don't think you would have to change the app.

All the app does is access some database of cruises, and select those for the particular user who is logged in.

Simply change the status of the database entries to show the cruises as not occuring.

Easy peasy.

People have complained about the same thing with cruises showing up in their personalizer.

A database tweek would address that as well.

Maybe easy, maybe not. Sometimes easy program  fixes turn more complex with the ever changing different smart device platforms they have to accommodate.  Even if the cost is small probably not something the company wishes to spend funds or labor on at this time. In time all will work out.

Are IT departments working with more than a skeleton staff? Are the medallion apps serviced by in house IT employees or are they under contract? When installed they were contract employees. Whatever in house IT employees there are they are probably working on just keeping booking, financials, payrolls, tax, remote employees, Zoom, and all the other normal requirements to operate a business. I'm with CineGraphic, medallion apps are not that important at this time.

Is this where we all guess the answers?

Will there be prizes?

I thought when the created the global content innovators, a lot of the people were hired from disney.

Not contractors.

Sure, the grunts on ships pulling wires were contractors...

The real reason not to bother fixing anything...

Will Princess ever resume sailing?

(this is where we all guess)

Will they simply become part of Holland America because of the forever-ruined reputation

caused by Diamond and Ruby?

Or, will the ships simply be sold?

With all the medallion problems posters are currently having, it might have been a good idea for princess

to spend some time/money/effort while there were no passengers.

You're missing my point. Paying someone to remove cancelled cruises is just a waste of money and fixes nothing.

I am missing your point.

I wouldn't pay someone to do it.  I would pay someone to code a rule to make the app work properly with cancelled cruises.

It seems likely that, over time, users will book and cancel more cruises.

Might be nice it that worked properly for them.

As many users can now see, having cancelled cruises continue to show up and disappoint users, was just the tip of the app iceberg...

There is no time left for the princess lovers to make apologies and

excuses ... people NOW are having problems using the app.

Princess missed an opportunity to spend lots of time polishing every aspect of their app.

No way to get that time back now, so the app is what it is...
