What's Premier Wifi? I haven't gotten an email about it.

I saw the "deal" in my offers on the Carnival website, but since we try very hard to make sure we stay disconnected, not at all interested, even if truly free.  Our phones are used as cameras and to access the HubApp, nothing more.

But I bet there are a ton of families out there who might appreciate the deal!

Oh, just for giggles checked out the pricing.  For a not-really randomly selected date/cruise (i.e. what I might actually book with the right wherewithal), it is $30 pp more expensive for this deal - six day cruise selected.  So that might be worthwhile for those that use it - it is normally about $14 or more per day if pre-purchased.

Oh, and Premier Wifi is their top-tier Wifi package.

I see it now. Had to login and check my offers. Thanks. The "Premier" threw me off because the top tier plan is actually "Premium." I thought they added something new. LOL

Yep, Premium is $13.60/day if pre-purchased. We use wifi, but this deal alone won't get us to book something.

I've gotten the Premium plan one time. Last March aboard the Horizon. The only reason I tried the Premium was because I heard good things about the quality aboard Horizon & was curious. Despite being the newest class ship with (supposedly) some of the best internet service in the fleet, it was literally the second worst internet service I had experienced. I doubt I ever get it again.

Just checked my offers, and I have the wifi offer there.  Would add on $130 pp for our 6 day cruise - not worth it, as I usually get the value plan just to check my email, (don't get email on my phone) and my dd doesn't use the internet.  And now that my phone has a personal hotspot on it, I may not get any internet at all and just connect my hotspot to my iPad.

Does everyone have the same rate code for this one? Mine is LU9. Just checked a random cruise and besides the Fun Select option this offer is the most expensive.

Mine is LU1.

So just like the drink offer, the lower the number, the better the deal, and the lower numbers might predominantly be offered to the folks that rarely exercise that feature, in the hopes of getting them to repeat next time (at full price).

I can say that the most we ever get is the social media package.

My offers have LU1 for wifi and RU9 for Cheers.  What do these codes translate into concerning my value to Carnival Cruise Line?  I have checked a few cruises with the RU9 offer and each one is $375 per person higher than the early saver rate.  I have purchased Cheers on past cruises.

Just be aware that the hotspot on your phone won't give you access to the internet unless your phone has a cellular signal. The only available cell signal while underway is Cellular At Sea, which is very expensive. Some carriers offer deals on it, though. Otherwise you'd need to be able to connect to a cellular network at one of the ports. Depending on your carrier and where you are, there could be additional fees involved.

That seems to fall in line with my offers. We always get an internet plans and the code for my wifi deal is LU9. However, we've never gotten Cheers and my code for that deal is RU2. My wife's is the same way.

My Cheers offer is RU2.  My internet offer is LU1.  I have never purchased either of these plans.

Our Cheers offer is RU1 and our internet offer is LU9.  Since we don't drink, the cheers offer is worthless to us.  We do use the internet, so I'm guessing that's why it is LU9.  We checked on a 7 day cruise we are looking at for next year and the internet offer is $96 more per person than the Hello Fun Bonus Early Saver sale, which also includes $50 onboard credit.  Also, the internet plan requires the full deposit, whereas the other is only $98 per person.  Since we normally book a year or more out, we rarely pay the full deposit.  We will just stick with the HFES sale and use our onboard credit from cancellations for the internet.

Glad to see there are a few other cruisers out there who disconnect when on a ship. Retired now but when working our yearly seven night cruise was “our” time. And we have followed that pattern. It’s one thing for someone on their cell to almost walk into you when strolling down the street but really annoying (to me) when it happens along the deck or walking off the elevator - my vent of the day.

My Cheers is RU2 and my wifi is LU9.  The wifi is $440 more PP for 4 people for the cruise we have booked.  Um, no thanks Carnival.

My husband's Cheers is RU9 and wifi is LU1.  His wifi is only $220 more.  My Cheers offer is less of an upcharge but since it's restricted to double cabins, it's not doable.  It seems as if the number at the end signifies the upcharge.  The lower the number, the better the deal.

Yes, I know I need a cellular signal.  We always get the ATT Day Pass for $10 each port when we cruise so I can "check in" with dh who is at home when I cruise in the winter. (tax season), and check my email on my iPad.   I have never used Cellular at Sea due to expense.  I usually get the CCL Value Plan to check email on the ship.  Think I will skip it next cruise.  Also, my wifi offer from Carnival is code LU9 - not great, and my Cheers offer is RU2.  Won't be getting Cheers cause I have automatic free drinks in the casino on a Hot Streak offer, and I have plenty of obc  to pay for drinks while not in casino.

I'm surprised they even offer different levels of individual deals. I know some people get a deal while others don't, but never knew someone could get a better price within a single deal compared to other people. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think some people are under the impression that everyone who gets an internet plan constantly has their nose buried in their phones or is taking away from their cruise. That's certainly true for some people, but some of us use it sparingly. There was a time when I needed to keep in touch with a parent in bad health. Nowadays, I have another elderly family member I'm close to and I like to be reachable if needed. My wife likes to be able to stay in touch with her mom. Aside from that, I might check emails once or twice or minimal internet use to look something up. Our last couple cruises, I've done small live threads here on the forum. Nothing extensive or time consuming, I just like to answer question people might have while I'm on the ship. All of my internet usage is done during my down time and doesn't take away from my vacation at all. Our cruise will always come first.
