Pics much the same as Gettingwarmer. A few extra as we had rainbows and something? in the water. Not sure where we were I think we missed some altogether as the Captain didnt want to risk it. I also notice that a picture to one side, grey and mist and another from the same spot seconds later of the other side has some colour and fairly clear. On that basis you could see some people just viewing from one side having a grey miserable view and those looking out the other side not too bad. Lovely waterfalls and rainbows. What IS that on photo 4? Both Frank and I have been stuying it and can't for life of us figure out what it is. It seems to come out of the clouds and disappears out of the bottom of the picture. Our best guess is bungy jumping. Anyone else? Avril

I'm guessing it's not used now, as it is so beautiful and pristine. Avril Reading this: https://www.seat61.com/NewZealand.htm it appears to be a visitor attraction other than the trains to the gorge. It is still has freight services.

This from the back of the Golden Princess 2018 (Now P&O AU) Could be a line from the window washing equipment -I think that is stowed high up at the stern. Izzywiz Posted April 4, 2021 #884 Share Posted April 4, 2021 Happy Easter everyone. We have visited Sydney 3 times and have spent a few days pre or post cruise each time. We enjoyed the city and the sail-out in 2011 was fabulous.... It was strange seeing Christmas decorations up when it was so hot in November 2013.. but our main interest is getting out of cities so we really enjoyed using the ferries to the different areas... Manley beach.. Watson's Bay and Bondi Beach
Izzywiz Posted April 4, 2021 #885 Share Posted April 4, 2021 In 2013 we also did a tour to the Blue Mountains which was very scenic... We rode 'the steepest train descent' in the world which was originally a railway line used by miners to get down to the valley. It was very scary .. There was a pretty walkway through the forest at the bottom and then a spectacular cable car ride back up to the visitor centre..
Izzywiz Posted April 4, 2021 #886 Share Posted April 4, 2021 In 2016 we hired a car and went south to the Royal National Forest..... Making sure that I could recognise our car.... We stopped in Audley which takes its name from a village near out home in Stoke-on-Trent... before moving on to the small seaside resort of Bundeena... and then stopped off at Botany bay on our way back to Sydney..
Izzywiz Posted April 4, 2021 #887 Share Posted April 4, 2021 We also rode the ferry from Sydney to Paramatta which is and hour's ride along the Paramatta River ...
Bloodaxe Posted April 4, 2021 #888 Share Posted April 4, 2021 Loving your photos, we have visited Australia 3 times but never on a cruise. We did a major land tour in 1999 of all the highlights with several internal fights, we returned to Queensland in 2001 and 2003, also spending time in Sydney and Adelaide. Unfortunately all my photos are on film, could not face the long flights now.
Aulanis Posted April 4, 2021 #889 Share Posted April 4, 2021 We have visited a few times these are from our aborted visit - last year who would fly to Oz for an 8 day cruise??. All a short walk from the hotel.

Dermotsgirl Posted April 4, 2021 #891 Share Posted April 4, 2021 We had two full days in Sydney on our Aurora cruise in 2017. Om the first day, we had to tender in, as Queen Mary was at the Overseas Passenger Terminal. We did an excursion to Bondi Beach, a drive round Sydney and a tour of the Opera House. After the tour was over, we had lunch on the trerraces surrounding the Opera House, overlooking the Queen Mary, then we looked round the Botanical Gardens. After that it was time to join our evening tour to Taronga Zoo. It so happened that it was our guide and driver from the morning tour, so we felt like we had been on a very long day trip. After that, time to tender back to the ship at dusk.
Dermotsgirl Posted April 4, 2021 #892 Share Posted April 4, 2021 Overnight, Aurora moved to the OPT. We spent some time in the Circular Quay area, then it was our intention to walk to Darling Harbour. But the weather wasn't as good as the previous day, and it became very overcast, so we decided to turn back and return to the ship. Just as well, as it was a wet afternoon.
Gettingwarmer Posted April 5, 2021 Author #893 Share Posted April 5, 2021 (edited) Today we arrive in Brisbane, tomorrow.......well tomorrow I fly home. I have visited Cairns on a precruise trip and snorkled for the first time on my fiftieth birthday on the Great Barrier Reef. However I have never been to Asia, southern Africa or southern South America. If anyone would like to continue the voyage please do so. I thank all the contributors and have loved seeing all the photos. I wish everyone happy cruising in the near future. Bye bye Edited April 5, 2021 by Gettingwarmer

Adawn47 Posted April 5, 2021 #895 Share Posted April 5, 2021 I do hope someone carries on with the cruise. Although I don't post, I look forward to seeing the photos of the different places that I've not visited, it brightens up the day, gives me some ideas for possible future cruises, and also a chance to dream. grapau27 Posted April 5, 2021 #897 Share Posted April 5, 2021 (edited) Thank you for all the wonderful photos and especially Australia as it was next on our cruising calendar before covid19. Paulines cousin emigrated to Adelaide Australia 16 years ago and they WhatsApp or speak to each other daily and we would have stayed a couple of nights with them at their home in Adelaide. They were here 18 months ago for their 40th wedding anniversary and 60th birthday and we took them around the Lake District and stayed in the Laura Ashley Hotel with rooms overlooking Lake Windermere for their double celebration. Izzywiz Posted April 5, 2021 #898 Share Posted April 5, 2021 Good morning posters and thank you Gettingwarmer for starting the thread which I have thoroughly enjoyed, not only because it made me look through my own pictures but also seeing those from the other posters. I don't mind continuing the 'Round the World. if no one else wants to take it on. My suggestion for tomorrow is the Cairns, Yorkey's Knob, Port Douglas area which are all cruise ship calls and quite close together....what do you think? We visited Brisbane in 2011, not long after the dreadful floods that did tremendous damage to the area. We were very impressed with the speed of the recovery in the city. We caught the river cat from the dock to the city centre and then got the bus to the Lone Pine wild Life Refuge so again, we didn't see much of the city itself... 8
Bloodaxe Posted April 5, 2021 #899 Share Posted April 5, 2021 At the Lone Pine Sanctuary in Brisbane I saw one of the funniest things ever. A Japanese Gentleman was following a Kangaroo with his camera, he was jumping along in time with the Kangaroo.

Adelaide is a lovely city Graham you need to spend time there, we have friends who live in the Barrossa Valley Wine Country not far away. I would respectfully suggest that a cruise can never do Australia justice unless combined with land tours. 1
