No it is not really a seaweed issue on the East side. It is a rough water issue.

well last time I was in Cozumel it was a seaweed issue as well as rough water.

Although Bahamas is not technically IN the Caribbean. LOL

I wasn't really referring to Adventure of the Seas or other Bahamas home-ported ships as much as the Jamaica and Dominican Republican home ports. But for all practical purposes The Bahamas is just as close to the Caribbean as Miami or Ft. Lauderdale ports. Bermuda is not.

I think the biggest thing I heard with Bermuda was that if people were going to fly there then they would just rather stay there. It makes sense. How many Bermuda cruises stay there for multiple days? Almost all of them.

In a nutshell I don't think it was a good idea in the first place. (cruises FROM Bermuda)

so per somewhere I read on the RCCL site, we will all have to wear the Tracelet bands for contact tracing.  are these the same as the WOW bands?  will they have any functionality for purchases vs just contact tracing on the AofS?

I’m interested in where you read this.  I’m on the June 19th cruise and haven’t seen or heard this.

I haven’t seen anything for our adventure sailing for bands. If they do no biggie to me.

It's not really been said for the Adventure of the Seas sailings; it's more a leftover item from the Healthy Sail Panel recommendations and part of what is happening on Quantum of the Seas in Singapore (though there it's the unvaccinated passenger part that certainly drives the needs for it).

Just like wearing an ankle monitor before your trial date. Easy peasy.

Or, for that matter, just like having a cell phone that's turned on in your pocket.

Looks like the DR sailings are still up though.

The problem with Bermuda and Montego Bay is hotel capacity is on the luxury side making day before arrival less attractive.  To alliviate that would require additional airlift.  Might have gotten a bit more complicated than anticipated.

Only been there once on a day trip from a cruise ship, but think Montego Bay has a lotta nice places to stay.

I think the primary problem is logistics and now competition from US sailings.

NCL has pulled the Joy from their website. For those that don't know, NCL was doing a similar experiment launching the Joy from Montego Bay, Jamaica for August, September, and October. No official word from the company. Maybe false alarm.

No, the cruise line has abandoned their idea of cruising from Jamaica. Those of us on the Joy are waiting for refunds so we can rebook.... again...

Yeah,,, around the Montego Bay cruise terminal, hotels are 1 star or 5 star (with 5 star all inclusives costing $$$$$)

Ah but the carrier still knows what tower you are connected to at any given time. 🙂

Ugh, sorry that happened. As someone who was booked on the Joy what's your opinion of their explanation of cancelling Jamaica to have crew for Alaska? 🙃

"Due to the previously disclosed lead time needed to relaunch a vessel and in order to maximize the short Alaska cruise season, the cruise line has made the decision to transfer crew from Norwegian Joy to Alaska and has canceled itineraries aboard Norwegian Joy from Montego Bay, Jamaica from August 7 through October 9, 2021."
