Summit in for Alaska, Solstice toast?

I read on the RC board where it was announced to TAs this afternoon that Summit would be a go for Alaska, out of Seattle R/T.  There was no mention in that note of Solstice.  I think I can infer what that means....another summer with no Alaska cruise for me.

I just received this email, no mention of Solstice:

Dear ,

The world is opening again and Celebrity Cruises is opening along with it. Earlier today we announced our long-awaited return to Alaska! The beautifully revolutionized Celebrity Summit will set sail beginning July 23 on a series of 7-night itineraries roundtrip from Seattle. It’s been a long road and there’s more to do but this milestone calls for celebration. I want to thank all of you, our crew, our shore side teams and everyone who made this possible. The future is looking very bright.

I just can't say enough about how wonderful it is to return to Alaska. I have always had a special place in my heart for the incredible people, amazing wildlife and the beauty of this great state. I’ve had the pleasure of traveling to Alaska many times. My last visit was in 2019 on a ‘Celebrate with the CEO’ sailing. We went whale watching, tasted the local salmon and watched performances from Alaskan bands and dance troupes. It was an experience I will always treasure. The people of Alaska are really what make it so special.

The Alaskan communities have been hurting without the economic support they receive from tourism, and especially, the cruise industry. I am grateful to our elected officials across the country for recognizing the need and finding a way to restore them to their livelihoods.

I truly believe that the best way to experience Alaska is by cruise ship. Our new 2021 Alaska sailings open for booking on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 and you can find more information about them at https://www.celebritycruises.com/destinations/alaska-cruises. If you've never been to Alaska, now Is the time to go.

All sailings will depart with vaccinated crew and everyone over the age of 16 must be vaccinated; as of August 1, 2021, all US guests ages 12 and older must be fully vaccinated.

We are looking forward to sharing more of these announcements as we work to bring our entire fleet back into service. All of us here at Celebrity Cruises continue to be so grateful for your loyalty and support. Celebrity is all about opening the world and I look forward to seeing you back on board very soon.

I'm hoping that the Summit was just a preliminary announcement and they add the Solstice.  Logistics wise it's going to be difficult to vaccinate and crew-up the ships in that short time frame.

I'm booked for July 30th and didn't cancel.  Keeping my fingers crossed.

Could it be that they are changing our ship from the Solstice to the Summit for Alaska?

It sounds more like they're selling all new berths.  No word on transferring bookings from Solstice.

A definite "Good News" item as at least the ships will be sailing....

Now if I could only get my 2nd shot so that I am fully vacinated and have the Canadian border open so I can travel to Seattle and back!!!!

As soon as those 2 things happen I will look at booking!!

Yes I have cruised Alaska 7 tiems already - but

I NEED A CRUISE!

So if we have Solstice booked we are hosed?

I hope not, but everything is happening quickly, so more announcements may be coming.  I'm hoping for one of two scenarios... our bookings are transferred to Summit, or they Un-hold the Alaska sailings.

@WestLakeGirl post sure makes it look like Summit is taking Solstice sailings.  I don't think Solstice has been reporting to the CDC, Summit is green so I believe can immediately embark non-essential crew as soon as the phase 2a port commitments are done.   I think it would take Solstice about a month of reporting to get on this list.

I wonder how long it's going to take Celebrity to get the phase 2a port commitments done with the multiple US ports the Summit is going to visit as well as that from Seattle? Hopefully a lot less time than it's taken them to secure them from Port Everglades for the Edge. But at least now the CSO guidelines have eased up quite a bit, especially with an almost fully vaccinated ship.

Summit is being replaced by solstice. More information here that the new plans require a change of ship

This also means missing the 'Inside Passage' scenery because it will be dark that late.

I think you mean Solstice is being replaced by Summit. I assume that if you were booked on Solstice, you would now be booked on Summit. At least we are hoping!!

You are correct.  As per LLP  in an email today.

We are on the July 30th Solstice sailing. We received an email from Celebrity today that explains the Summit will replace the Solstice for our sailing. Departure port and stateroom class (S1) will remain the same. We will receive an updated booking in the next few days with our stateroom number on the Summit. Also gives us the option to cancel for refund, move to next year within 4 weeks of sail date or get 125% FCC (we have until May 28th to make the decision.)

We are planning to go and will make final payment early June (since the sailing was on "hold" status, final payment was shortened to 45 days.) Sailing with Son and DIL - woohoo! Time to look at flights and hotel in Seattle 🙂

Not at all. You will be rebooked on the Summit in the same class of stateroom. You should find out in the next couple days what that will be. Summit is smaller than Solstice, of course, but lots of people have already cancelled so there should be room for you in the same class.

I wish I'd get that email.  I've been in final payment for 13 months through the casino program. Waiting to see what happens.

Did you receive this in an email from Celebrity? We have not. Wonder if it is because we are dealing with a travel agent?

So I'm curious. Our two May 2021 Millennium Alaska cruises were on hold until the clock ran out and got cancelled. But there are still plenty of Millennium and Eclipse itineraries in the July-Sept timeframe still on hold. I wonder what happens to those bookings and if their applicable passengers have been contacted?
