Oceania Wait List ???

I understand those who go on a wait list for a full category for a cruise or a full cruise.

What happens to those who are on the cruise but have waitlisted for a different category? eg concierge waitlisted for PH. If a Ph opens are they given priority?

I've done this for my upcoming cruises. There is one "priority waitlist" containing those that want an upgrade(already have a booking in a lower cabin) or have paid a deposit(and have no booking).  Based on order received.

There is a "waitlist" for those that haven't paid a deposit.  My understanding is chances are slim to none of getting a cabin on this waitlist.  Others with more experience can comment...

Post Covid, I have no idea how fast any waitlists will move but in the past we have had friends and ourselves be successful. Final payment day would normally trigger the dominoes. The most important thing is you are booked and you are sailing. If you are able to upgrade, 👍🤪🥂 but if not, it is not a downer and just think, you saved some 💵 to spend on a future cruise.
One thought however, when you are on that cruise, sit down with the O Club Ambassador ASAP and book a future cruise in that suite you longed for and get an On Board Booking Discount. One of our 2020 cancelled cruises, we had been #3 on a PH Waitlist since early 2018 , and after over a year we moved up to 2 so there are no guarantees.
KEEP ON BOOKING!

We are interested in a 21 day cruise,December 2022.We really would like an Oceania  suite for a special occasion ,but it is waitlisted. Is it possible just to be on the waitlist for one grade of cabin, having not booked anything? We understand it is better to pay a deposit and one assumes we will get that back if we aren’t lucky.? Also can we withdraw from the waitlist at anytime and get our deposit back? Thank you.

I believe you can wait list for one Cat cabin

Why not?

I believe you are in the UK  so not sure if you cancel if you get the deposit back ..something to discuss with Oceania or your TA

For the cruise that we are waitlisted for, we chose and made a deposit in order to be on the Priority waitlist. We are listed #1 for an inside cabin, #2 for C2-Deluxe Outside, #3 for C3-Deluxe Outside, and #5 and #6 for Veranda Staterooms. "Pricing will adjust to the prevailing rate once you have cleared the waitlist (and OLife added on)."  Yes , the cost is > $40,000. We hope that a veranda cabin is offered! 😀

Did you book direct with cruise line?

I rang the offices and a very helpful young man said we could book through him or our agent, a wait list slot for suite. He said we are second on the list. I paid £500 deposit each. My agent told me an hour later that we are first on the wait list. Fingers crossed.

a statistical study I did prior COVID showed most upgrade (and buy backs) happen roughly 60 day out from the sailing.  There is almost always availability change the few days before deposits are due.

From what I've seen $40,000 is for the inside cabins on the long cruise's.  🙂

Thought they were talking about a regular cruise as in 7-10 days. Was wondering what kind of a nice cabin would require that kind of price. Might would consider it but sure would have to be nice. Makes sense that it is for one of the longer voyages.

We found a travel advisor through conversations with others while on our last cruise, November-December 2019 (oh, those were the days!). Although we have yet to sail, we have been pleased with the service and have 1/2 dozen cruises reserved using this advisor/company.   The waitlisted trip (>$40,00) is for a  47 day adventure. Hopeful!

Yes! Folks looking for a good TA with knowledge of the “ins & outs” of O should ask as many folks as possible onboard “what TA do you use (and why)?”. Particularly if you do longer O cruises, you will hear a handful of the same US cruise specialist travel agencies over and over again.

Thanks to all for this posts' information.  I checked with our TA and learned that we have 'advanced' to the #2 position on the veranda (B1 & B2) categories.  😀🚢

Look at the upper suites, like the Owners, sometime Vistas or Oceania, on just a little longer 14-21 days. Real easy to start spending a lot of money. Add excursions, La Reserve, drink package etc.

we were waitlisting for a Sirena TA next fall - we were already on her for a B2B2B, and just wanted to stay on her until we got back stateside.  Our TA said priority waitlist was 3k in deposits.  We said no thanks, and then found a fabulous crossing on the brand new Silver Moon for less money than we would have spent for a Sirena PH cabin.  So we are now 39 days on Sirena, 5 days in Cascais in Portugal, then Moon from Lisbon to Bridgetown.  Sometimes not getting what you think you want is a blessing.  We are "over the moon"! (Sorry - couldn't help myself).
