We have arrived in Roatan. From my understanding everyone can go ashore and on private excursions, but will need to wear a mask both inside as well as outside.

Do you mean masking ashore in Roatan, or on the ship as well?

Just on shore. We’re still free to do what we want with regards to wearing a mask on the ship.

Good!  Keeping my fingers crossed that they won't reinstitute masking on the ship!!

No idea. However, it is interesting the Edge is only sailing at 42% of capacity which does seem a bit low. The new testing requirement may have played a minor part in that, but that’s just an unofficial guess from someone over in the peanut gallery. 😎

Interesting!  On our recent Edge cruise we were told by the Retreat concierge that we sailed at 52%.

Were you able to go a on your own tour in Roatan? The celebrity website has conflicting information on the Healthy at Sea page:

.
Western Caribbean
On your own tours are permitted in Nassau and Roatan..
Tours provided by Celebrity Cruises are required in Costa Maya, Cozumel and Roatan.

We went on a Celebrity excursion, but yes, you were allowed to go on your own private excursion in Roatan. However, that’s not the case on our next stop. In order to leave the ship in Cozumel, you need to have booked a Celebrity excursion.

Had a fun morning on our Celebrity excursion to the Gumbalimba Preservation Park where we saw a variety of animals with the highlight being Monkey Town where the moneys love to jump from person to person giving nice head massages. Unfortunately, I don’t have any of those to post as my DW took those with her camera where I was getting the head massage!  😎

But the highlight of the evening was our visit to the Chef’s Table. What a wonderful experience along with meeting some great people!! Would definitely recommend it if it’s in your budget, but definitely come hungry!! 😎

Ken the cruiser,

I'm thoroughly enjoying all your posts and pictures.  I hope you are enjoying the "sweet suite" life onboard.  You were so lucky in getting all your "10% reduction OBCs" issued I'm thinking you should definitely hit the casino and maybe your lucky streak will continue!! 😁

I'm wondering if you could ask someone who might know if Celebrity has any plans to offer the "Luggage Express" service on any future Edge cruises from Fort Lauderdale?  Thanks in advance for any info you are able to get.

LOL!!! I felt the "agony of defeat" one too many times in my younger years, so our plan is to spend most of that extra OBC on excursions, specialty restaurants and spa treatments as well as generously tip the folks that have made our cruise super enjoyable so far!!

Speaking of excursions, we went on a Mayan excursion today in Cozumel and had a great time. Initially, we thought we had already seen this one until we remembered that on previous Mayan excursions, we had always taken the ferry to the mainland to see them. When we realized we weren't first taking the ferry and were actually staying on the island, we got a little more excited.

The Celebrity excursion was Mayan Ruins of San Gervasio and what made it even more special was that it was 4 hours, only had 12 guests and came with a super guide, Thomas! Definitely recommend it if your interested in Mayan Ruins and really don't want to have a beach visit included in the excursion. 😎

Before I ask anyone onboard, I tried to search the Celebrity site to get a feel for what you're talking about. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any reference to it. So, if I might ask, what is Luggage Express?

I think they may mean Luggage Valet. Using it, one can set one’s bags outside the door as usual, but not deal with them again until arriving at destination airport. The Retreat Concierges would probably know if it’s been resumed for FLL.

Luggage Express is a program Celebrity always used to offer (pre-pandemic) where you were able to check your suitcases in with your airline onboard the ship.  Your luggage was then automatically sent to the airport and your luggage was put on the flight.  And voila….you got your suitcases when you arrived at your destination airport.

There were parameters to the program (specific airlines, flight times, etc) but if you qualified you could use the program for a very nominal fee.

it eliminated you standing in line at FLL to check your luggage.

it was a great program, in my opinion.

Yes, Silkroad, it’s Luggage Valet.  Thanks.  I must have had a senior moment calling it Luggage Express.  Sorry about that, Ken the cruiser!

CS just confirmed they used to offer the Luggage Valet. But it has been temporarily suspended since they restarted cruising and gave no estimate as to when the service might start up again. Sorry for not having better news.
