aaaaa Posted August 14, 2021 #1 Share Posted August 14, 2021 Good day. I'm seeking advice/tips as to a good plan for quickly booking a cabin on Vista once bookings open in September. Will travel agents be able to view itineraries and reserve before the general public? Related, will a deck plan be available by the time bookings open? Thank you in advance. Rare LHT28 Posted August 14, 2021 #2 Share Posted August 14, 2021 I suspect the deck plans will be revealed along with the itineraries Usually TA's cannot book ahead but you can certainly tell your TA what cabin(s) you want so on the day they are ready to book JMO

TAs can enter bookings requests, not technically booking for cruises before bookings officially open. For Oceania, that means they can keep the system from crashing with everyone trying to get online at XX:00. Also, Oceania can evaluate cruise and/or cabin demand early and then allocate cabins or manage requests among the TA if necessary. Oceania then confirms, or not the requests. It can be a complex game. It’s one reason why bookings aren’t confirmed immediately when trying to individually book online. A lot is going on in the background on who gets what. Best to give your TA plenty of options so they can move quickly when necessary. An Oceania specialist understands the game. Rare pinotlover Posted August 14, 2021 #4 Share Posted August 14, 2021 As far as booking Vista for 2023, my hopes were mostly dashed last week. I had spaced it, but was told the current rumor is only Grand Voyages of 30-45+ days and longer minimum will be released in September. Segments, if required, won’t be released until next Spring. Oceania is expecting to sell out the ship without having to do shorter segments. Time will tell.

Rare mauibabes Posted August 15, 2021 #6 Share Posted August 15, 2021 Wow, I wish I had your sources about Vista, even some good rumors like Grand Voyages. My sources in Miami are extremely tight lipped. I understand TA’s have a webinar in a couple of weeks but guests won’t see anything until early September before the unveiling of the Itineraries September 15. 30 days, sounds great to me. Tranquility Base Posted August 15, 2021 #7 Share Posted August 15, 2021 A leisurely North Pacific transit to Australia, followed by a round Australia would work well for some 30 - 45+ day voyages.

If they can book the whole ship it can potentially become it’s own cohort for the duration if needs be.
jmnapa Posted August 15, 2021 #9 Share Posted August 15, 2021 If a cruise is booked directly through Oceania and then transferred to my agent, is the agent's commission reduced?

We usually book onboard via the O Club Ambassador and transfer to the TA during the 30 day transfer window. The only reduction to the TA commission will result from the lower fare price for an onboard booking. And when there are complicated booking credits in play (e.g., multiple FCCs to be used - with one or more needing deadline extensions) and/or new itineraries just rolling out, we’ve found that a trusted/long-serving O phone rep we’ve used has great leeway in getting needed exceptions, cabin holds, et al). Immediately. His booking in hand, we then transfer to our TA for added perks and commission sharing (which has not been reduced due to the O “middleman”). And, if anything, our TA(s) are pleased that we do all the initial legwork and save them fir any problem solving that occurs thereafter.

susiesan Posted August 25, 2021 #13 Share Posted August 25, 2021 I was just looking at the video from O about the cabins on Vista. They are all verandas. This means that those of us who sail on O ships in insides or outsides due to their affordability over verandas will not be sailing on Vista. I hope O always has a ship with insides and outsides so some of us can continue to afford to cruise with them.
Rare pinotlover Posted August 25, 2021 #14 Share Posted August 25, 2021 We’re travelers not cruisers. Before we make any decision on sailing Vista, we’ll need to see where she’s going, and at what price. The cruisers will probably rush to get on her regardless of itinerary. Awaiting that itinerary release.

I am going by wha the video said. On the O web site no insides or outsides are shown. There is a new category, french veranda. There may be insides used for entertainers or visitors or for quarantining covid positive passengers..

Rare cruisingxpert Posted August 25, 2021 #21 Share Posted August 25, 2021 It appears the Inaugural will be in Mid April as I got an email from a travel agency "that shall be nameless" saying We want to invite you to join us on her inaugural sailing from Rome to Barcelona, departing in mid-April 2023. gbits Posted August 29, 2021 #23 Share Posted August 29, 2021 Vista has a new B5 “french” veranda. Don’t know how many but I imagine this category will be the least expensive. There are also 6 solo concierge verandas included.

Looks like about 20 of them on deck 7 same as the outsides on the O class ships except you can open the floor to ceiling doors for the sea air Wonder how that will work with the A/C ??
