TYMAN Posted September 6, 2021 #26 Share Posted September 6, 2021 Was on the Mariner last week. Less than 900 passengers so the ship was pretty much empty, but we really enjoyed. Had an Aft JS and there wasn't anyone with two cabins of us. We did get asked 4 times prior to boarding for our negative test, but that wasn't a big deal. Really didn't like wearing a mask (wear one 10-12 hours a day at my hospital), but was able to take it off as soon as I got to the casino, bar or restaurant. Diamond Club was a bit boring, only went once and walked back out. Different vibethen I was used too. The crew was so happy to have passengers back, thanking us multiple times a day. Great cruise!!

Yes it was a good cruise, but not my best. Don't you dare cough or sneeze, because everyone around will assume you have the thing that shall not be named. I didn't like having to basically wear my mask around my ear, or neck, you need to put on everywhere inside, except casino and when sitting in vaccinated theatre or sitting down drinking or eating. So walk to coffee shop on, sit off, get up on, walk to show lounge on, sit off, get up to go to bathroom on and so on. We also like to get off ship and walk around, but stayed on for all ports except coca cay. Just too hot to walk in the sun, with mask on. Even if no one is around, you must wear it outside in Mexico (where our 2 stops were). I am going to wait to cruise for a few more months, all the stress was not really worth the fun. I hear ya. We will wait however long we have to wait to cruise with no masks. OR.......we will cruise on NCL where no masks are required anywhere on the ship of 100% vaccinated crew and passengers.

Empty ship/excursions (CocoCay) and exceptional service from the crew. The testing protocols really were not fun, but that's the current world we're living in. Would do it again in a heartbeat. What are YOUR thoughts? 100% agree. We loved, loved, loved our post-COVID cruise. We loved it so much we went on another last month and will be on our third in a few weeks. The protocols for each cruise are vastly different and we just go with the flow. All part of cruising during a pandemic. For that matter, the protocols at home are no different. Depending on transmission levels, we have different protocols at work. Right now we're back to being temperature screened as we enter our office building and having to wear masks. There was an ever so brief period when vaccinated people did not need to temp screen or wear masks,,, but the delta variant did away with that.

Booking It Posted September 6, 2021 #31 Share Posted September 6, 2021 We were on Adventure in July. Yes, I loved being back on a ship. Yes, I loved the lack of other passengers. I LOVED two days at Coco Cay! We would have loved a third and a fourth day there! But, there were definitely things that I did not enjoy about this trip versus other cruises. I did not love sailing out of Nassau for many reasons. I am also a "bigger and newer" kind of a person. I sailed on Adventure because it was the only guaranteed sailing option when we booked it in April 2021. I would probably not purposely choose Adventure if there are ships like Symphony, Odyssey, or Wonder (can't wait!) available. I had two Symphony cruises canceled in 2020, so for me, Adventure was a bit of a disappointment compared to my original plans. I still had a great time, but it was not my first choice. We were also on one of the last sailings before masks were required again. We will not sail if I have to wear a mask. I can't sail for a long time anyway because I'm a teacher, and it might be too risky to sail over winter break if restrictions keep increasing. I don't want to risk being quarantined in a foreign country for two weeks when I'm supposed to be in school. We will wait and see how things go over the next 6-7 months, and possibly book a summer 2022 cruise in the spring.

I highly recommend you get one, although I can’t tell you where - the wife looks at me sideways every time I ask. It’s amazing. I simply book cruises, and the rest just magically happens….and the most magical? I get to my cabin, and not only are the drawers/closets/bathroom stocked, but it’s an absolute duplicate of what I have at home….size/color/style, everything! I keep thinking it’s a dream, only to get home and, after a couple hour nap, discover all of my clothes/etc are still safe and sound, just where they should be….albeit a bit snug after a longer cruise. I promise to post should I discover where we got this magical gem….until then, make sure your significant other knows they aren’t ‘the only one’; however, I don’t get ‘roasted’. Hope this brought someone somewhere a bit of sunshine…she truly is a gem. Edited September 6, 2021 by bucfan2 4 1

Russ Lomas Posted September 6, 2021 #37 Share Posted September 6, 2021 Hated all the hoops we had to jump through to cruise in August, but LOVED the cruise on the Odyssey. We are scheduled and plan to do it again in March 2022. We are hoping that some of the testing requirements are not needed by then, but who knows. A large chunk of the group we plan to sail with also have mixed vaccines, so hopefully the CDC and RCCL will start to recognize this regime as effective as well and permit them to sail. The one big holdup for us for March is we have flights booked from Detroit and we live in Canada, so we need that land border crossing open before then.
