You can simply purchase $500 worth of OBC using the Amex card with the offer.

Buying gift cards on the website is limited to 9, or $225 total...I wonder if we need to make a single purchase or if it can be a combination of several purchases...

Be careful of buying gift cards if you are using these offers.  There are types of data points, as well as, the fine print that says gift card do not trigger the offer credit.

on my amex, i got:

150k membership points is less than $150 though for my free amex blue if i used it to pay statement credit. 😞

Thanks for the heads up.  We just booked a cruise so too late for the offer.  I will try to pay $500 on the account before the offer expires though.  I wish Azamara was listed.

Is  there a fee to buy $500 worth of chips at the casino?

no fee.

in fact, you get a 10% bonus for buying pre-cruise. (this amex offer is basically only good pre-cruise.)

so $500 gets you $550 promo chips.

you play them till you lose. if you win, the original bet stays on the table and your winnings will be real chips.

i wouldnt recommend you use them to buy slot play. You dont get points for the $550 you put through the machine.

for tables, all they do is subtract the $550 from your play even though you will be using those promo chips for more than $550 in play because they are still in use when you win.

Really?  I've had a Delta AmEx card forever and have previously received such an offer from Celebrity and/or Delta.

I never have seen a Celebrity or RCCL offer on my Delta AMEX card, and I look at the Offers about every ten days. This for Celebrity doesn’t show for me either. Oh well.

The current offer I have been cherishing is for dining: once a month, spend at least $15 at a restaurant, get a $15 credit. I can handle that. It has been valid since July, goes to end of the year.

Purchasing chips at the casino with a credit card might incur a fee, I'm not sure. I wouldn't go this route. Better to purchase $500 of OBC prior to your cruise and use that OBC to purchase casino chips.

Well, I got one once, several years ago.  It had to have been on the Delta AmEx as I have not had a regular AmEx for at least 20 years and I wasn't cruising then.

Yes, I am loving the restaurant deal, although I think it started in January.  I'd have to go back and look at my bills.

My husband had the "Spend $500 or more, get 15,000 Membership Rewards points". He made a payment on our existing reservation yesterday and the 15,000 points was credited today. I am an additional card holder and had the "Spend $500 or more, get $150 back." I also made a payment toward the same reservation and received the email "congratulating me for using my offer. So far, the credit has not posted. I will update if/when it does.

Most of the points websites (TPG, etc) value MR points at $.02 each so it’s really not a bad offer at all.

And its a base two cents, TPG states for the best redemptions redeem your points for international travel on partner airlines

But 15k points from this offer ain't going to get me a free intl ticket.

Can I use points to partially pay?

(At 2 cents per point?)

We received the Celebrity and the Oceania offers but not the Holland one (Carnival corp brands). Since my Celebrity cruise is booked through a big box store that doesn't take American Express I plan to buy $500 worth of refundable SBC. I did this once before, received the credit from Amex and when the cruise was cancelled, I received the $500 back from Celebrity.

I spent a long time speaking with both Celebrity and American Express, it does not have to be used for a cruise reservation. It can be used to purchase dining, excursions etc. The $500 does not have to be spent all at once as long as long as it is spent prior to the end of the promotion and either online or through Celebrity on the phon..  I have it in writing as I had Amex upgrade the chat to a higher level and they replied in writing!

Go to Guest Services on the last day of your cruise. They will give you cash for unused refundable OBC.

They will just give me $500 cash back from my unused OBC no questions asked?

How can I be 100% sure that the OBC I purchase pre-cruise is refundable? I don’t want to get screwed here buying $500 of OBC and then finding out once I am on board that I must spend it all or I forfeit it.

IME purchased OBC is refundable. If you don't take it in cash, whatever is left will be credited to the card on file. Just make sure that card is not the same Amex card you used to buy the OBC. Amex might (probably will) claw back the $150 if they see a credit from Celebrity.

You can buy onboard credit in $25 increments from the gifts page

yes, but the maximum you can purchase in each tranaction is 9 x $25 = $225. Does the $500 purchase need to be on one transaction

I've seen several people write, "co-branded cards will never see these offers".  I work for one of the big Wall Street firms and we offer a co-branded Platinum Amex essentially free if certain terms and conditions are met.  I can tell you that I routinely receive these offers.  I currently have an offer for $150 back from $500 spent on RCCL.

The problem I seem to have is that one can only have 100 Amex Offers at once.  So on my Amex Platinum, I have moved 83 offers over to the saved category (Mostly offers expiring soon), and they immediately populate my offerings with new ones, bringing me back to 100.  Because my queue is full, I miss out on some deals.

I have Amex Platinum, Amex Gold and 3 Amex Blue and so far, I don't see the Celebrity offer, but again, those queues are full at 100 other offers, so new offers cannot be added.

No but you can call Celebrity and purchase $500 in one shot.
