I've been an Amex member since 1985 and did not receive this offer. When I clicked on the link in this thread it brought me to Celebrity but in the offers area no mention of the Amex offer.???

The link posted won't work. You need to log into your card account on the American Express website, see if the offer is available to you, then add it to your card before making the $500 purchase.

if your AX card is a travel benefit card (hotel, airlines)  you won't receive this offer 😞

I found it, but it was several clicks into the site, at least for me. After logging in, click on Benefits at the top. Then, you will need to look for "Amex Offers" and click on "Learn More." On the next screen, click on "Explore Offers." There will likely be many available offers. To find the Celebrity offers, click on the "Travel" link in the "Refine by" area. When you find it, you will need to click "Add to Card." It has been my experience that you do not have to go through their link nor do you have to make a new reservation. I made a payment on an existing reservation using my Amex and received an email from Amex congratulating me for using my Amex offer. Hope this helps!

Got it, thanks. Ironically I looked to see if there was this type of offer prior paying for our cruise and there wasn't one.  I've signed up for it.  Now I'll have to see what qualifies besides cruise fare

Fine print, it started today and is only applicable toward cruise reservations/fare and since I am fully paid for via using a TA and am getting a $215 gift card and earning 5% back on my cruise, I think I'll just leave things as is.

Ive had the credit trigger by purchasing items through the website pre-cruise.  Your mileage may vary, but also may be worth a try if youre going to buy or pay for anything that isnt already included.  I would even due pre paid gratuities if I have an offer.

It's annoying that it is not available for the platinum card.  I think this happened once before.  Guess I need to get an ordinary blue card.  Is there a fee for those?

That's odd. I found it available under my Platinum card as well as the authorized user card

These are highly targeted offers. No one knows how the marketing algorithm determines who is targeted. Getting an ordinary Blue card may or may not help. The only Amex card I have left is the Amex Everyday (no annual fee) and I have the offer.

they never sent me the offer but when I went on their website it is include in offers. I have spent over an hour talking to both Celebrity and Amex and getting varying answers on whether I can use the offer to purchase excursions, dining and/or onboard credit and whether the $500 needs to be spent in one shot or can it be spent cumulatively. The Amex person at Celebrity said I can spend it for dining and excursions and doesn't need to be in one shot, Amex customer service said all in one shot.  Amex has escalated my question and I should check back since I can't seem to get a straight answer.  As the offer is good until March and I'm sailing in January I have time to use it if I can.  Just frustrating.  I'll keep y'all posted

Cool thx.

Buying $500 in casino chips.

I'm buying them regardless.

I'm forgoing 3% rewards card ($15) to get $150.

If my purchase doesn't  count, oh well.

It was worth the risk/reward.

The offer I have for both RC and Celebrity says it has to be used for reservations so purchasing OBC wouldn’t work for me

Rest assured that, despite the fine print, purchasing OBC will work.

There are actually currently 3 offers in Amex-

  • Celebrity
  • Oceania
  • Carnival/Princess/Holland America etc

Received them on both Amex Platinum, and Blue Cards both personal and business cards

Then there is an offer on Marriott spend $x and get $x off.

Make sure to look for these hotel offers as well, since alot of us fly or drive in the day before and stay at hotels.

Hope that helps

Offers are on the Home page of your account.  Scroll down on the home page.

on my amex, i got:

150k membership points is less than $150 though for my free amex blue if i used it to pay statement credit. 😞

Most of the points websites (TPG, etc) value MR points at $.02 each so it’s really not a bad offer at all.
