Rare uktog Posted January 23 #2976 Share Posted January 23 Was that menu offered to all guests and how was it advertised- I would certainly have enjoyed a proper Al Fresco experience- I know you can on the buffet but I’m not a buffet person I don’t like jumping up and down and prefer full service

It was executed perfectly and I was amazed this morning when I was told it was their first time doing it. Hope they do it again. 8

Iwan told us last night that they will do another one, probably next segment. Hope so.

aliaschief Posted January 25 #2981 Share Posted January 25 We will be attending the Chefs Signature Dinner tonight. New to us. Last night’s White Night poolside had folks up and dancing. Saturday night is a special dinner for World Voyages. Not sure what that entails so will have to wait and see.

aliaschief Posted January 26 #2984 Share Posted January 26 Here’s some food porn from Chef’s Signature Dinner last night. First time they have offered this. Chef Sri is having a different one each segment. Tomorrow a special dinner for World Voyagers. Meet for cocktails in Cabaret Lounge followed by dinner on the Promenade under the lifeboats. Another first. Today another lunch BBQ featuring Australian cuisine. Doesn’t get much better than this. 7

These are some of the surprises I mentioned when you first started your adventure, and they will be offered to all of the guests onboard Onward. A lot of effort has gone into the planning of all of this onboard and credit should be given to Iwan. From what you have posted he has done an incredible job. 4

aliaschief Posted January 26 #2989 Share Posted January 26 IMO one lunch and one dinner is hardly a distraction for those on segments. There is a lot of planning that goes into a World Voyage and everyone on board gets to partake on the added events. In fact many of those on segments have stated there is more going on than usual. Last nights Chef’s dinner was new and was enjoyed by any who wanted to attend. Popular enough that the dinner was served in Prime and Aqualina. 8
marinaro44 Posted January 26 #2990 Share Posted January 26 Won't go on a cruise where some are kept on the outside looking in. Really dislike separate breakfast room for suite passengers, even though we're usually in one. Just rubs me wrong.
Rare uktog Posted January 26 #2991 Share Posted January 26 For me having done three cruises (one b2b legs 2 and 3 and then the second last leg) of a previous World Cruise on Azamara I would never book any legs that are part of the world cruise. We and others were left to feel very uncomfortable if you happened to be in what they perceived as their space eg certain seats in the Living Room and Den. Trivia groups did not welcome others into their teams. The ambience was just not what we had grown to love on Azamara. We actually reboarded again when the world cruise disembarked in London - what a different atmosphere, back to the old Azamara I am not saying it is like this on this World Cruise but we spent a higher per day rate on average for a sub par experience and we wont take that risk again.
Mackdogmolly Posted January 26 #2992 Share Posted January 26 I don’t begrudge the world cruisers their experience at all and I have enjoyed @aliaschief’s postings. But like @uktog, I have noticed that the segments do seem priced higher, so I haven’t booked anything on Onward during this world cruise. 3

Mixed feelings, but not as public as 195 people dining on the promenade deck for all to see...and be required to stay away. BoB done rather discreetly. I don't begrudge the world travelers anything they're getting. I just don't want to be onboard while they're getting it

Oh dear that doe not sound so great. I was so looking forward to my 35 nights on Onward in March/April - now I am not too sure. Think I shall bypass the Den and Trivia and hope they have all gone to bed when I hit the disco!

I have not met one person on just some segments or segment that isn’t enjoying the cruise immensely. There is one Trivia game that does last the entire cruise. Teams of ten and there are some players who are on segments. The rest of the trivia we have always been able to join a team or start a new one. Living Room late disco has been slow. Maybe because they’ve kept everyone so busy during the day. Bridge Master onboard, high caliber guest lecturers, cross stitch, maj jong, folks playing cards, two food demos this week, dance lessons and more. Entertainment has been good. There are only 195 of us on World Voyage out of the 590 guest this segment. I don’t believe we will ruin your cruise experience. Looking forward to maybe meeting you in March. 7

Many of us have friends and family joining for different segments. As aliaschief has mentioned, we have met many segment passengers who are having a fabulous time. We were on the 2018 World Journey for 2 segments and we never felt it was "them" and "us". It was our first Azamara experience and we loved it. Don't worry, it will be a great cruise. 7

Please don’t let one person’s experience one time dampen your excitement for your own cruise. The people on your cruise won’t be the same as on that cruise. Go and have fun, join trivia if you want and enjoy the den. And burn up that dance floor! Edited January 27 by laurieb 7
