Interesting, thanks..wonder at what point they will take it off the itinerary, as that was one reason we were picking that date/ship?

They removed it from our Nov 28 cruise a couple of months ago.  Don't expect Labadee for quite awhile if ever.  There have been reports of locals basically moving in and trashing it so not sure if it's even in any shape for cruisers.  But, the political situation hasn't changed there and won't likely for a long time.  A lot of people believe it will never be used again.

Did they replace it with anything?

Someone please tell the locals that the very private cabana up on the big rock at the suite beach needs to be thoroughly sanitized and cleaned prior to moving into it....

They replaced Labadee and Falmouth with Cozumel and Costa Maya.

Can anyone tell me if there is still a Maragritaville at Falmouth port, and if its similar to Grand Turk location where you just walk to it right off the ship and has a big pool area you can just stay at for the day?  Thanks!

They have one, it's within walking distance, but the last time we were there it was no one near as nice as the Grand Turk one was.   it's smaller, and it was dirty, hopefully things have improved.  It's worth checking out but I wouldn't get your hopes up.

I can't imagine RC would let this happen. They have too many millions invested there to let it go to waste.

RCI wasn't there during the unrest and earthquake so the area was left basically unprotected for well over 18 months.  I don't think they had any say.  Haiti owns that land and RCI had a lease, but who knows the status of that.

The lease is until 2050 and Haiti gets paid $12 per passenger (annual visitors average out to about 2000 people per day) and employs upwards of 500 Haitians either directly or indirectly (vendors).

Plus if they gave up on Labadee, they'd need to find somewhere else because people would get sick of CocoCay and Cozumel really fast.

I would much rather go to coco cay, labadee had problems even before COVID, as for Cozumel , haven’t been in awhile. Just will be happy to be cruising. Stay safe , enjoy your day.

It's one port.  There are plenty of others.  But, we're happy to be on a ship.  We happen to love sea days and a lot of others do too, but they are subbing other ports for Labadee when they can.

And, what is the status of the Haitian government that signed that lease?
