grandgeezer Posted November 29, 2021 #5 Share Posted November 29, 2021 I’m guessing the base rate listed is the MSRP or Rack Rate, like you see posted on the door in a hotel. They couldn’t work off the current price as sometimes it changes daily, or even several times daily. Look at the total and if it works for you. Sort of like they do with new cars, I bought one last year for $3500 under MSP.
Notaworryintheworld Posted November 29, 2021 #6 Share Posted November 29, 2021 Much smaller scale but a 4 nighter in October I got a balcony for $350 on a certain website. The cheapest I could get it anywhere else, including royal, was $600ish. I was skeptical but everything went fine with it.
kccrzr Posted November 29, 2021 #7 Share Posted November 29, 2021 Several years ago we saved over $1k off RCI’s pricing on an Australia/New Zealand cruise by using a large online TA. And, on top of that got a hefty OBC.
Cruise Gopher Posted November 29, 2021 #8 Share Posted November 29, 2021 That second one has a “Travel Agent Friends and Family” rate on it. It’s real rate, but for some reason I thought those were only for actual travel agents.

From what I understand tho travel agents aren't supposed to advertise those rates. Or they shouldnt come up in a random search. I've never found those rates to be any better than a senior or resident rate.
deliver42 Posted November 30, 2021 #10 Share Posted November 30, 2021 On the Ovation this past September, there was a $1300.00 price reduction after FP, and I was able to get that in OBC with no problem.
luckyinpa Posted November 30, 2021 Author #11 Share Posted November 30, 2021 since the talk about discounts. for the fun of it, i checked the 55 and over to see when i'm an old fart how much i get off my cruise total difference is 0. sigh
Rare mac_tlc Posted November 30, 2021 #12 Share Posted November 30, 2021 Looks like the online price is using the Travel Agents Friends and Family rate. Sometimes its available, sometimes not. It is legit. It can be offered by the travel agent to anyone they wish, but it is not a "published" rate. It is usually not combinable with any other promo. It the early-Covid-cruise-cancellation days, it was also not eligible to be "lifted-and-shifted". mac_tlc
