On the boards it was suggested to bring something for the crew as they can't leave the ship.  Any suggestions???

Cash

And/or ask on the ship if you can pickup something for them at port.

Thanks, wanted to bring stuff from home.  Flying Southwest, 2 suitcases free, should have some room

You can search here for the thread(s). I believe there were a few.

To me, the bottom line is they live in a small box with little room for stuff. Money to get exactly what they want is best.

I didn't bring anything from home... I asked if there was anything I could get her from the ports we were stopping at. It took us 3 ports but we found her much needed hair products... Others I know asked once on board too
Some of the things needed/wanted are specific items not very generic

Also, they can leave the ship.  They do have some free time in ports (maybe not all port stops, but some), and they can go off the ship.

I agree with the others.  CASH is king.  And asking if there is something you can pick up.

Otherwise, you are more likely to give them something that do not want or need or have room for.

The main request we hear from the crew is chocolate! We buy big bulk bags of the good chocolates, like M&M's, Snickers, 3 Musketeers and Milky Way, all in single serving bags. We pass them out to cabin stewards, bartenders, servers, wait staff and Guest Services staff, etc. Easy to put in pockets and enjoy anytime they want! We also have been tipping generously with good ole cash! We have been very blessed with the ability to do that for our cruise friends! Oh and most important, as well as FREE, say "thank you for all you do for us" and SMILE!! Cheers friends!

They're getting off the ship. I was in Galveston the other morning running errands. I stopped in Marshall's and over 50% of the customers were crew. Then I went over to Walmart and it was probably 30% crew. There were fairly large groups waiting for taxis outside stores. Looks like they really put a strain on the taxi & rideshare of such a small community.

The privilege of getting off the ship in port only began last week.

Until then, the covid protocols banned it.

IME, besides asking your own cabin steward and anyone else you want to reward for THEIR specific needs and wants, they want common American chocolate candies, Snickers is often mentioned, and peanut M&Ms, but also potato chips, and DORITOS.  I am almost always asked for Doritos.  😄

See post #13, perhaps you can squeeze a bag of Doritos in

Tony from La Lido Loca and Chris Wong made a YouTube video about this subject for those who want to give a gift outside of cash to crew members. Take a look. Chris is a Casino Host on Odyssey  of the Sea.
