Notes from the Emerald Princess 12/9/21-12/19/21

Just a few notes:

DMW

When I select the same time for several (not all) nights, 'they' or it assumed I was TD and put me in the Botticelli Dining Room with the same guests / table each night.  3rd day -> still trying to get back to ATD. I like showing up whenever. So I do and remind them that I'm never sure when I want to eat

Da Vinci = ATD

Botticelli = TD

APP

Although it worked fine on the Majestic the new update is wonky now on the Droid. To work around issues I can still pull up the 2020 version (MedallionNet not MedallionClass app) to make / view shore excursions and view my bill. FWIW 50% net & 10% excursions came back as refundable. No matter, I've spent it already (casino donation)

ALOHA DECK

There are 3 closed sections for:

1. New crew 1st 7 days onboard

2. Those waiting for test results

3. Positive antigen results until back to Florida. Then either they drive home or stay in a hotel until cleared

Capacity: 1530 paying cruisers so apx 50%

  • Ombud changed the title to Notes from the Emerald Princess 12/9/21-12/19/21

Billing:

I just noticed that I've only been billed for 3 lattes not for 3 lattes & 2 pots of afternoon tea. No idea why IC isn't billing for my Mighty Leaf Vanilla tea. Probably a PR move.

At this rate my 2 coffee packages should last all 10 days

Any excess vibration in Botticelli?  I mean beyond normal thruster vibration when docking.

Lol.... Sounds like the Botticelli is taking diners from OP's message.  I hope that they fixed the vibration issue.

I am ATD so have no idea about Botticelli.  Michangelo is closed.  And I cannot cancel reservations on the app or TV. Apparently no one on this voyage can. Doesn't matter. I still show up in Da Vinci when I'm hungry

When I cross the Aloha deck going up the stairs, it looks like at least 1 entire side.

No Grand Turk. We are overnighting in Cartegena and I'm ok with that!! Due to the Iron Man our 1st day there, there is a Princess Excursion to an island which sounds good plus several nighttime tours (1 tour involves a carriage ride thus limiting participants). Columbia requires vax cards, immunization records, government IDs, and masks

Cartegena overnight

New Locks Panama Canal

Limon

Fallbrook

FWIW: port guides are one of the few things that load properly in my MedallionClass app.  Don't need to go to MedallionNet website for that

@#1Nannaprecisely 30 days before embarkating

HOHO can be bought online for $15 and is supposed to pick up where free shuttle drops off at the terminal. I bought excursions (yeah, I know, $$s) so not 100% sure as I did not personally experience it

I would love some feedback about the entertainment in the main theater.  A cruiser on a recent sailing said that Tom Briscoe (comedian) was great as was the impersonator, but to skip Mike Gaffney (comedian). Your thoughts?

I have a question about your comment about requirements to visit Columbia. What do you mean about immunizations? Other than COVID?

Just Covid-19. I don't have a record of other immunizations

Didn't watch comedian but hopefully someone else can answer. Saw Sweet Soul Music last night. Same as usual except some people forgot to stop talking during a performance. Not Princess' fault

Also : KC vs Traitors on room TV & club Fusion. 2nd game is Bills vs Bucks. 3rd game is Bears vs Packers. A lot better watching it my room but won't watch all of them. (Not sure how it would be in my usual balcony without a sofa, I was upgraded to a mini-suite).  Eventually it won't be 94°F & 92% humidity

With the coffee card the teas and drip coffees the only limitations is that it is only for the purchaser, since you can share the specialty coffees with this package.

I agree 100% with that!  Mike Gaffney was horrible.  It was almost embarrassing how no one was laughing.  The few that DID laugh, sounded like pity laughs.  It was really bad.  We enjoyed everyone else, though

We will be embarking on the Emerald for her next cruise and really appreciate all this information. I actually have what will probably seem like a bizarre question.  Do you know if is possible to watch our own content on the televisions in the staterooms? Is there an hdmi port we can connect to with one of our devices? Or do the sets connect to Bluetooth signals?

The reason I ask is that my mom had been getting a lot of comfort from watching reruns of a specific television series since she recently lost my stepdad.

We were recently on the Majestic and were able to access the HDMI input on the back of the TV, but the HDMI input was disabled.  The TV's do not have Bluetooth capabilities.

We were able to stream (Netflix, Hulu and Spectrum live programming) via our tablet with no issues.
