Cancelling and rebooking question

We have a booking for a cruise departing Feb 13. We are considering canceling and using the FCC for a Mediterranean cruise in May 2022. If we do this, do we have to cancel, then wait for the FCC before we can book the new cruise (read that can take weeks) or is there an option to simple change a sailing (and pay the difference).

Has anyone gone through the cancellation and rebooking process?

We just did this. You can rebook when you cancel. Once the FCC comes through they can apply it to the new booking. We called to do this and it was super easy to do.

Our August Infinity cruise was canceled on June 22 by Celebrity, and we immediately booked the Equinox for August 27th using the 125% FCC from the canceled booking. Our TA told X that we were using the FCC for final payment and stayed in contact with X.  We did have to pay the deposit on the Equinox cruise but that plus the FCC covered the new cruise cost as we upgraded from Aqua to a Sky Suite.  The FCC was not issued until the 5th of August, but X knew it was coming but we couldn't finish checking in online until the credit was issued.

I can’t speak for other’s experiences. We did not have to provide any additional deposit pending the FCC posting in an estimated 30-45 days. The new cruise is far out so they may have been a factor. We also spoke to a Celebrity rep directly and didn’t use a TA.

Interesting.  We had a cruise canceled.  Called our TA and they basically moved the $$ from the old cruise to the new one.  We had no wait for a FCC.  They used the $$ we had already paid as the deposit and much of the cost of the new cruise.  All done and confirmed in about 2 days.  We often pay as we go, but never make the final payment until just before the deadline.

Do not know if the cruise being canceled made a difference.

When our Infinity cruise was canceled in June, we could have done the same, but waiting for the FCC got us an additional 25% in cruise credit and paid for our rebooking in a suite. The extra 25% was worth the wait.

Question. Is it possible if one cancels a cruise to move the $$ for that deposit over toward a final payment on another cruise that’s already booked?  Has anyone attempted to do this?

As long as your deposit is not a non-refundable one (NRD), you can move it. If X cancels, then you can move a NRD to another cruise.

Ours is a $900 non refundable. I know we will loose 200$ of it but wondering if they would apply the other 700$ which would be a future cruise credit toward payment?

I could be wrong however I thought the Cruise with Confidence plan lets you keep all the $900 as a FCC?

"

  • Nonrefundable Deposit Bookings: If canceled outside of penalty, the full deposit amount will be returned (without penalty) in the form of an FCC. If canceled within any phase of penalty, the cruise fare including full deposit (without penalty) will be issued as an FCC."
