mfs2k Posted January 27, 2022 #1 Share Posted January 27, 2022 Who gets to dine on the Magic Carpet? How do you make reservations? Is there a set menu?
Rare Jim_Iain Posted January 27, 2022 #2 Share Posted January 27, 2022 Anyone can dine by reservation. The concept was a rather failure as the winds were so high when cruising it became impossible to serve. They now often have dining available on an overnight port stay. They normally drop the Magic Carpet to the level just outside Raw. At other times while at sea it is open as a bar and anyone can stop in for a drink. My observation was it was not used much, but may have been the cruise I was on.
Rare PTC DAWG Posted January 27, 2022 #3 Share Posted January 27, 2022 I'm hoping to find out in March...on Apex...looks intriguing, if only for a drink or three.
TeeRick Posted January 27, 2022 #4 Share Posted January 27, 2022 I thought I saw recent posts here that the Magic Carpet was not being used for dining - at least for the time being. Am I wrong?

Am I wrong? People on the Apex boards have posted about having dinner on the Magic Carpet, not to be confused with the extension of dining with Raw on 5 when the Magic Carpet is positioned on Deck 5. I tried to make reservations for Dinner on the Edge (of Apex) and was told it had to be done onboard and yes they were doing it. We'll see in March......
Lane412000 Posted January 27, 2022 #6 Share Posted January 27, 2022 If you have the opportunity to dine on the Magic Carpet, do not pass up the chance. It was awesome, just a great experience. The food was outstanding. It was somewhat windy and cool (August in Greece), but did not distract from a great night. I think we had a reservation made for us by the butler. The menu is fixed and you are given everything presented on the menu. Old age....laughing.....cannot really remember what was on the menu, but all high quality items normally found in the specialty restaurants. Like I said in the beginning, if you get the chance for a meal on the Magic Carpet, do not miss out on the opportunity.

Rare hcat Posted January 28, 2022 #10 Share Posted January 28, 2022 Res for Dinner On the EDGE are not very easy to come by.,.usually sold out and there was no posting of the waiting list, When we finally snagged an offer it was for an added nighypt but by then too difficult to re arrange our schedule...Heard it is awesome and well worth the charge. Rare BennyBrun Posted January 28, 2022 #12 Share Posted January 28, 2022 Can you use the dining package for the dinner on the Edge? I know on the APEX they said no because the upcharge was $129 per person but it was also full. Although at night it does get quite chilly and windy when we were on it so I wonder what is it like during the “cooler” nights.

I asked/tried because we have a dining package reserved. Reservations are first come, first serve only once you get onboard. I'm hoping weather will be perfect in March 🙂

Rare graphicguy Posted January 28, 2022 #15 Share Posted January 28, 2022 Had apps on the Magic Carpet on my July Edge sailing. Lots of people in the Magic Carpet for SAILAWAYs. Pretty calm at all other times, which made it the perfect venue for watching the sun go down.
Rare BennyBrun Posted January 28, 2022 #16 Share Posted January 28, 2022 On the APEX they have outdoor dinning for FINECUT but the server said that it was too chilly to serve out there and the food is cold by the time the dinner takes the first bite so they closed the outdoor dinning while we were on it in January so I can’t imagine it being warmer up on the resort deck for dinner. That was our plan as well! To ask about dining outdoors at Fine Cut also. Hopefully it will be warm enough in early March. 🙂 Don't think I would have attempted it in January. I'm a wimp in cold weather.
Mackman6 Posted January 22 #18 Share Posted January 22 Are there any more recent posts for Dinner on the Edge (Magic Carpet)? We have reservations ($129 per person), but they have to be confirmed when you board. I have heard that it is amazing and then I have heard that it's just a gimmic and just go for a drink. We are travelling transatlantic in April 2024. Anyone have any insights. I'm also new to this blog and not sure how to get more relevant info.
Rare OceanCruise Posted January 22 #19 Share Posted January 22 When you factor in a mandatory 20% tip, this dinner will cost you over $300 for two. It can also be windy at times on the Magic Carpet. I have not eaten on the Magic Carpet but have eaten in a number of specialty restaurants across the Celebrity fleet. In my opinion, no food on Celebrity is special enough to be worth that much extra cost. Even the regular specialties are way overpriced now. If you have extra OBC to use up or don't care about the cost, you might enjoy it. Some people will spend that amount on a facial, massage, or casino whereas, others will not, so it is all relative.
