Dressy capris (just the facts, ma’am)

Are women permitted to wear dressy capris and a top in the specialty restaurants like I wear regularly on Regent? Please, I love a good debate as much as the next guy, both of my kids are lawyers, but I respectfully request facts instead of opinions today for packing. 🌴😻🐬 Thank you!!

Just the facts? Perusing the frequently asked questions, I see that “for evening dining, elegant casual resort wear is suggested”. How do you interpret elegant casual resort wear? That is a matter of opinion.

All good news, yay!! We are all packed and ready to go to South Beach 😎 tomorrow morning for a couple days before boarding Tuesday 🐬🍷🏝

Planning to do a live report as seen through the eyes of an O newbie … with lots of food porn, of course!

Give us a little COVID report too if you would be so kind so that we all know what to expect when we said soon. Masks, testing, distancing, cases and quarantining.

I absolutely will and I try my best to keep controversy at bay for the running blog. We can all debate every aspect later 🤣 I’ve been known to over report a live report 🤪 covering lots of topics (though mostly food) 🥑 but I have fun with it and some people find it helpful.

We saw a guy turned away from Toscana, a couple years ago, attempting to wear capris. 😂😂. Good thing the OP clearly said women!!

They call those Manpris. I really didn't realize they were a thing until a saw a fellow wearing a pair on a cruise once.

I had to Google to establish what capris were. That'd generally be "cropped trousers" to we Britons. Sold here as menswear almost as much as womens. So I don't get why a man would be turned away when a woman wouldnt be.

My personal feelings: I go on cruises to "dress up".  My life is casual, so it's refreshing to me to put on my finery.

That is the nice thing about Oceania you can "dress up" or not

personal choice

That, of course, begs the question:  If you manage to get in wearing manpris, can you do it while wearing dressy sandals?

The only male I saw attempting to wear capris or manorial to a Specialty was turned away. Any sandals would have just  sealed the deal.

20 years ago we were at the Fairmont in Banff and my husband was turned away from the dining room, even though he had on a navy blazer, white shirt and tie.  Why?  Because his black shoes were packed in a suitcase in the trunk of the car and he had boat shoes on.

Halfway through packing (it’s a bit like labour just without the epidural or the bodily fluids), due to how I found that buying clothes during our long and brutal lockdowns for cruises that were eventually cancelled actually made me feel a lot better generally I now have a very extensive wardrobe of cruise clothing.

Most of the trousers are capri length, most are white or some other neutral shade.

it looks like I am taking two pairs of long trousers on my next trip and the rest are cropped. Pairing with a simple tunic top or shock horror a T-shirt, brazenly and without remorse in the evenings.

I may even add pumps (think converse) to my outfit - I don’t do heels or slinky sandals.

I think you can be smart casual with the above on. As long as I don’t fling my food around like an ape I am sure the other guests and staff won’t mind.

Last time I was lucky enough to be on Oceania there was a chap who was at the speciality restaurants a lot of the times we were in them. We were on a cruise around the med and he wore a 10 gallon hat whilst seated at the table. he could have stored an extra portion of food under it, it was that big. It didn’t offend me, I just thought it was amusing.

Wear what you are comfy in, what you would not have a problem wearing to a nice restaurant and have a fabulous time 🙂

I live in a very non-traditional area and often see people wearing clothes not affiliated with their birth assigned gender. A person with a beard wearing a dress doesn't even make me blink. However, male appearing folks wearing capris really freaks me out a bit. Something is just fundamentally wrong about this on a sub atomic level. :-)
