Its the earliest time, correct?

I think things have changed No testing on the quay and my antigen was never looked at on boarding Nautica on April 11th,  but i think some of the agents did ask for sight of their antigen tests .

Meanwhile  around the pool yesterday  nobody  had a mask on and there was no social distancing !! I known it is not an enclosed space ,but one is lay within 2ft of somebody's  face ?? Also around the buffet masks are not enforced .

Attached is a shot of 6 crew that had tested positive for covid and were escorted off the ship.

Do you know for sure they tested positive?  I just talked to a very good friend (crew)  on board Riviera now and he said all crew that tests positive are quarantined on board.  He thinks their contract is up and they will be heading home for a break.

But for the rest of Europe, you have to check each country as they all have different rules.

Indeed so. There is no common Europe wide policy/regulation about mask wearing, or any other Covid restriction, and never has been.  For example, here in the UK, we have not had mandatory mask wearing for some while (except in health care settings). I've just returned from a fortnight in Spain where outdoor mask wearing mandates were removed some weeks back but indoor mandates are still in place for, I think, another week. By the by, as someone clinically vulnerable, it was very worrying just how few people on the plane were choosing to wear a mask - a quick count suggested no more than a dozen. Of course, as we disembarked, they all got them out of their pockets to put on for entering the terminal.

I happened to be standing on our balcony when it all started.  They were all escorted out by the folks in moon suites (along with others in PPE).  There was quite a ruckus.  The picture shows a few plastic bags (there were more).  These contain personal belongings of the dispelled crew members.  The bags were removed from the ship by the moon suite people.

There was a short break while the ousted members talked (some very loudly) about what had just happened (they were given “minutes” to pack and get off) and what would happen next.  The 2 officers in the photo as well as the person in the beige trench coat, explained that they would be taken care of in Marseille until they tested negative.

They were then escorted (some had to almost be dragged off) to awaiting vans and driven off.

This is my observation.  Perhaps I missed something but as a photo journalist, I try not to.

That is my guess as well

Wow, those unprotected officers sure are standing close to those infected people. No wonder they’re having issues. 🤔

United is forcing me to not only provide passport but also vaccination card and a negative test.

You and your fellow passengers will be safe.  I am happy for you.  And I expect United to do the same when I fly.

That was my point that you didn't copy, in response to someone wondering why various other people weren't checking the status: that the airlines are responsible for the negative test result check before you board. And once you board, ain't nobody else worrying about it: "Though the responsibility is on the airline prior to boarding. They aren't supposed to let you board otherwise. But once they do, that's it. Didn't you have to prove to the airline the negative test prior to boarding?"

I'm sorry I missed that point.  You are quite right:  United required me to prove the vax and the negative test.

Any news on the mask mandate in European waters on O from people currently onboard?

Just got off Marina, in Rome.  Everyone was masking as Italy is fairly stringent on this.   No idea situation on other ships.

Had a domestic flight yesterday.  Very few people were wearing masks in Ft. Myers airport and almost none in Philadelphia at baggage claim even though Phila. has an indoor mask mandate.  There were no signs or announcements made telling people to mask up.  The plane was completely full.  We saw two passengers in first class wearing masks and maybe a dozen more in the main cabin.  I was very surprised to read polls indicating that 58% want to continue the mask mandate.  I sure wouldn’t think that after yesterdays flight.

Was just on Marina for 28 days from Miami to Venice. The only time they asked us to mask up was near Rome. The Italians were more strict, but we noticed few locals wore masks in the small towns we visited.

Thanks so much. And what about on the ship?

Did you port in Venice or was it moved to Trieste? If so, how hard was it to get to Venice from there?

Roccaforte,

I have come to the conclusion that these published polls are BS, ok call it propaganda and only applies to the person or bot responding. Reality is what you found on board and that was miles different than the poll.  Your reporting has credibility.
To me that is the problem with Twitter data, making policies and decisions based on Twitter numbers is ridiculous nonsense. The majority does not rule, only the polled and Tweeters.  What is the old adage, “figures lie and liars figure”.
Ciao,

Philly’s mask rule lasted about 3-4 days.  They had a week ramp up only to then have the numbers start to drop.

We ported in Trieste. It was a long journey to Venice to visit St. Marks and also to fly out of Venice. Tons of truck traffic and construction between the two cities.

Are masks provided on board for free? KN95 masks are pretty expensive.

At the moment our room steward will deliver masks marked KN95 whenever we ask.  Some are strapped as N95 others are the earloops that KN95 implies.

we came with several we knew were genuine, I think BVD brand  and periodically we’re forgetting them in the room so we opted for the individually wrapped ones from the ship.  First day there were 2 on our bed.

fwiw, some are wearing surgical mask and are not being challenged, aboard ship.  I’m not sure what happens in port though.

You might find it interesting that you can fly out of Trieste....    LH has several flights     and the airport is way less corwded..... United/ Star alliance     you can use ff miles too !

Thanks for the update! On my last cruise (Viking) in September, they supplied surgical masks. But now Italy has the K95 requirement I wasn't sure the situation.

Our Royal cruise in February also gave us surgical masks although we opted for N95 most of the time.

On the bus from Marco Polo airport to Ravenna most were wearing masks and within the terminal people were being reminded to put masks on but I don’t recall anyone saying which ones.

On the Vaporetto in Venice most seem to be wearing mask indoors although most of those restrictions were being interpreted as outdoor and ignoring the crowd requirement.

I’m going to be interested in what the US airplane flights home will require.  We depart from Rome.
