Thank you. I just checked and it said that I had to report to my local health department and that the form was for Health department use. I just wanted to make sure that they counted us because it shows that the Discovery is orange. With how many passengers we had on our sailing that would mean about six passengers had Covid (If I asked Siri correctly). I have a feeling there was probably that many just in our Roll Call???

I will get the second booster when it is safe for me to do so. I don’t know which variant I have. I am curious which one I have but they did not tell me. On my ER papers it only says “positive!”. What is XE? I haven’t turned the news on in a few days so how many variants have I missed? XE is the recombinant variant of BA2 and Omicron. As I understand it, it came from someone who was infected with BA2 and Omicron at the same time.

According to the CDC: "CDC regularly reviews the number of reported cases and exposed close contacts for ships in “Orange” status. As needed, CDC may request additional information from the ship or discuss the situation with ship personnel or the cruise line’s corporate office. If warranted, CDC inspectors can conduct in-person inspections to verify that all public health interventions are being implemented as recommended to control onboard transmission." If there are more concerns, the next level up is "Red" status. This is what CDC says will raise a level above "Orange" to "Red": More than 0.3% of total passengers and/or crew plus Sustained transmission, Multiple factors that overwhelm onboard medical and/or public health resources, or Variants of concern are identified among on board cases. Cruise Ship Color Status | Quarantine | CDC I find the CDC's approach interesting. Is there another industry that has these heavy inspection regimens? An NHL game can have upwards of 20K people. No CDC enforcement there. NBA game, the same. Disneyland, amusement parks all can have many more thousands of people, all huddled together and I'm not aware of any such "orange" or "red" levels being applied there. And are there any vaccine requirements in any of those places? Enforced mask wearing? Talk about double standards. The CDC has lost a lot of credibility in my eyes. We were on the Emerald Princess in November and I admit I was a little concerned but went ahead anyway. I was so impressed with Princess' care and attention on that ship. The cleanliness of the ship, mask wearing, social distancing where possible and so on. If anything, cruise lines should be getting a pat on the back. Instead, we're going to wait for an "outbreak" that has been brought on to the ship from outside and then declare a red status (whatever that means) and wait for CNN and the rest to jump on it with both feet with the usual petri dish comments while they wait for the inevitable sob story of how someone missed their honeymoon cruise or family cruise all because of the big bad cruise lines. Its a biased approach to cruising while turning multiple blind eyes to resorts, sporting events, religious events, amusement parks and any other event with more than a couple of hundred people. Call it incompetence, bias or a wrongheaded approach - call it what you will but politics has nothing to do with it.

People stay and dine there - when people go to hotels/resorts, they don't commingle during the day with each other as much. It is far easier to track on a ship. I think that all got covered in a few previous posts. You would self-report to your local health department. They would initiate contact tracing which would reveal your cruise. That data is required to be sent to the CDC on the reporting form which your local health department completes. If you were to test positive at a health provider or pharmacy, they are required to notify the local health department who performs the contact tracing then in turn notifies the CDC via the reporting form. If somebody who tests positive at home after the cruise fails to self-report, then they wouldn't be counted. I knew either Siri lied or it was user error when I was asking how many passengers would have Covid on our sailing if we were Orange…. User error. On the Ruby they are keeping track of themselves which is what I wanted to do here. We know that the reporting is not correct. There’s no way that it could be. If they do not want to make masking a requirement I think they should at least stop smoking in the casino. I was in the casino daily having a great time. I was masked but as they say you mask to keep others safe.
