Slot Pull Ethical Question

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

Do you find it somewhat unethical for someone to organize slot pulls in order to use their seapass card for casino points?  When you think about it, it's actually pooled money from all those that choose to participate.  Just having a mental debate.

I never thought about it, but it doesn't really matter to me. I never earn enough points on my own to receive any perks, so if my buy in helps someone else receive benefits, that's fine with me. Or each person could insert their own card for their play?

I really hadn't thought about it until recently when I read the "rules" posted by an organizer that specifically stated their card would be used in the machine.

We had a slot pull organized and someone joined the rollcall last second to run a slot pull.  The ones organizing let this woman push in and she had her card in the machine unless someone made her pull it out.  She and one other member of the slot pull decided to have more turns to see if we hit and then took all the money and put it on red on roulette.  It was black.  All money lost but the lady got her points.  Last slot pull we ever joined.

I totally understand why you wouldn't participate again after that mess 😡

That does sound really bad. The ones we have participated in have always seemed to have friendly participation. I never really paid attention to the card thing. And I can't imagine taking all that money to another game. It should have been redistributed.

They dragged it on so long that people gave up and left.  It definitely should have been redistributed though.

I’ve organized several slot pulls in the past and it’s a lot of work.  I’ve always used my card and never had anyone complain. Had they wanted to use their card during their pulls, that would have been fine.

Full disclosure, I have never participated in a slot pull.  I do gamble and spend a lot of time in the casino.  I do enjoy meeting people, but don't like to comit to anything onboard.  Once onboard, I tend to get involved with our family's activities and all pre-planned events go unattended.  This is just my 2 cents worth FWIW.  The organizer of the slot pull puts in a lot of time and effort to organize the event and keep track of all the details.  To me, their card should be in the slot as a bonus for all of the work involved.  The reason for the slot pull is to share any winnings from the machine.  The extra points each person would get is very small.  If points are that important to you, then just don't participate.

Simple math.

Every one buys in for $20.  4 pulls at $5 each.  That's only 4 points your losing.

Let's say there is 50 people... That's 50x4=200 points.  In my opinion whoever is running the slot pull earns it. That's not much points for organizing and keeping people entertained.

I've only joined one ever and it was painfully boring so even more kudos to people that run it all the time lol.

Technically it's against CR rules to 'use' someone else's card.

Just sayin

So is using your spouse's card but we all know how that goes lol

It’s always the organizers card. Lots of work goes into it. If your so concerned about your 4/5 points run your own slot tournament.  It is not unethical it’s how it should be

I could be swayed one way or another but Im still lauging at casinocruzgirl's photo with all the cash!! If anyone is right on this subject its her!! 🙂😛

My question is why anyone would begrudge the person doing all the work that small perk. Sounds pretty petty to me

The issue I had with our crazy slot pull stemmed around the latecomer changing everything that had been decided.  I don't like it when people steamroll others.
