Does Celebrity still do one category upgrade?

Does Celebrity still do one category upgrades?  Can it be done 1B to 1A?

You have to mention it at the booking stage.

I seem to recall that there was one balcony category which did not allow this.  Wondering if it was 1B to 1A.

As far as I know, you can do in-category 1 class upgrade, so C3->C2 or A2->A1.

I did this recently on Beyond A2 to A1

I did when booking the Silhouette for November - paid for a 1B and in a 1A room

I think it is hit or miss sometimes depending on how booked the cruise is.  We didn't get an in class upgrade when we booked Summit for the fall, but it was because there were no other cabins in the class available.

We just booked a cruise on the Eclipse for January 2024 and Celebrity have changed the cabin categories. We wanted what was a 1A at the 1B price and we have a DV veranda 8252 (formerly a 1A) with no one category upgrade. It looks like Celebrity have removed one more perk.

We did it on the Edge in October from A2 to A1 and just did it on the Beyond as well.

When we booked the Apex sunset veranda we were told that category didn’t qualify for the captains club one category upgrade.

That's correct, it is one of the excluded categories...

This change from Celebrity proves that somebody on their payroll does follow this Cruise Critic forum!

 

Sadly, all the helpful posts regarding best cabins in a category, also helped Celebrity to designate them as "deluxe" and "prime" and exclude them from the one category loyalty upgrade.

We have booked the one on the other side on the Silhouette in November - 8279.  Still the 1A category til next year

You are correct.  It was C2 to C1.  Looks like in 2023, it will change to C2 to C1 being allowed.

You are fine with 1B to 1A
