dave_k58 Posted July 8, 2022 #1 Share Posted July 8, 2022 We are booked on the Regal for a TA Nov 17. I was wondering if someone knew if Churchill's has reopened on the ships that have them. Thanks
Thrak Posted July 8, 2022 #2 Share Posted July 8, 2022 Yes, Churchill's is open for the Cigar (and Pipe) smoking crowd. Be advised that those folks do not appreciate Cigarette smokers.

They don’t appreciate it because cigarette smokers have other places to smoke, Cigar and pipe smokers do not. Many times my husband wanted a cigar but there was no seating available in Churchills as it was filled with cigarette smokers.
deliver42 Posted July 8, 2022 #5 Share Posted July 8, 2022 I've been on 2 Princess ships, the Ruby and the Regal, and I smoke cigars. I never had a problem smoking a cigar wherever smoking was allowed. Nobody, crew or passenger evr said anything to me.

Just curious, hubs is a smoker. Vickie

Smoked cigarettes, cigars, and pipes for close to 50 years before I quit. But these days, cigarettes do stink (though in sympathy, I seldom object to it unless it is in a non-smoking area.)

Many years ago we were on the QM2 and DH decided to go into the cigar lounge for an after dinner cigar and brandy. I decided to join him, but was politely informed by the attendant who was lighting his cigar for him 🧐 that cigarettes were discouraged. I believe she may have been a little surprised when I opted to enjoy a cigar of my own, albeit a milder one
Rare JimmyVWine Posted April 4, 2023 #12 Share Posted April 4, 2023 (edited) Bumping this up for an update. (Not interested in a "which smells better" debate or a "who can tolerate whom" debate. Very simple, straightforward question.) As of today, does Churchill's have a stocked and attended bar complete with a bartender, or is it just a lounge to hang out in? And if it has an attended bar, are the hours limited? If it varies by ship, I am most interested in Regal. I went back and looked at my Patters from October, 2022 and not only does Churchill's not have any hours listed there, it isn't even referred to in the list of "Dining, Bars & Lounges" at all. Thanks. Edited April 4, 2023 by JimmyVWine
Rare stevenr597 Posted April 4, 2023 #13 Share Posted April 4, 2023 Disappointed with "Churchills" on Discovery Princess. Very small with little seating.
glenc56 Posted April 4, 2023 #14 Share Posted April 4, 2023 No bar or bar tender, lucky if you see any ship staff at all.
Irishman_1990 Posted April 4, 2023 #15 Share Posted April 4, 2023 Does anyone know if you can purchase cigars there or if you bring your own?
Rare mom says Posted April 5, 2023 #16 Share Posted April 5, 2023 The cigar lounges do have cigars for sale. But if you are a cigar aficionado you may prefer to bring your own. They don't have their own bar. They are next to the casino, and the drinks come from there. On our cruise (we were on Crown, and their cigar lounge is the Speakeasy) we had a waiter take our orders. He was in and out every few minutes in the late afternoon/evenings.
Ret BC Posted April 5, 2023 #17 Share Posted April 5, 2023 Churchill's was open last year on our TA onboard Enchanted. Staff from the adjacent bar would pop in occasionally and check if anyone needed a drink. They did have a small selection of cigar's available for sale as well. 1
roboref Posted April 5, 2023 #18 Share Posted April 5, 2023 We were on a TA cruise and I was in Speakeasy enjoying my afternoon/pre-dinner cigar. @ women came in and lit up cigs. When I am smoking I don't mind cigarette smoke, it all mingles together anyway. They went to waving their hands and giving me an evil look. Then one of them asked if I would mind putting out my cigar as they couldn't stand the smell. The nerve! LOL. I politely responded that I would mind being that this was the Cigar Bar and the only place to smoke a cigar. They angrily stubbed the cigs out and left offended. A 2nd on bringing your own cigars, the ones that are for sale are of dubious distinction and absolutely not very well cared for.
