Natitude61 Posted July 18, 2022 #1 Share Posted July 18, 2022 Decided to go ahead and get the unlimited dining for our upcoming Anthem cruise. For those who have done this, do you add an additional tip when you dine (gratuity was automatically added to the price of the package)?
firefly333 Posted July 18, 2022 #2 Share Posted July 18, 2022 I think most feel obligated but maybe less than before. If it was good service only, not for those 2 hour meals.
RFerrington Posted July 18, 2022 #3 Share Posted July 18, 2022 Yes, your standard gratuity will be included in your price but we always tip at time of service as well. $10 for lunch and $20 for dinner. We also tip $5 for breakfast and we tip these amounts regardless of whether we have a dining plan or not and regardless of where we eat.
70SS350 Posted July 18, 2022 #4 Share Posted July 18, 2022 Was on Oasis in May had the UDP and tipped $20 each time on top of the auto gratuity for all meals. Enjoy your cruise.
taglovestocruise Posted July 18, 2022 #5 Share Posted July 18, 2022 Most of the gratuity that you paid goes into the overall ship pool. The specialty servers get about $5 from your added gratuity from the package. Any extra cash you give them they get to keep. Tip as you see fit. Rare aubreyc1988 Posted July 18, 2022 #7 Share Posted July 18, 2022 You certainly don't have to, extra tipping is up to your discretion. For us, extra tips depend on service, but some people tip extra regardless and that is their prerogative. There is no right/wrong answer to tipping extra, and don't feel bad if you decide to not tip extra, even tho "because the cruise line spreads out your auto tip" That is between the cruiseline and contract they have with their staff.
Joseph2017China Posted July 18, 2022 #8 Share Posted July 18, 2022 I never tip extra, the tip is included. NOTE the ship is not in the USA, and the customary tipping is not based on the USA, but on a long standing process that has been accepted for decades

mickeygirl78 Posted July 20, 2022 #11 Share Posted July 20, 2022 When I had the unlimited plan or dine in specialty, I typically do tip additional in cash. It depends on the level of service but I usually do $5-10 per person per meal.
