LIVE from Scandinavia on the Voyager of the Seas July 31-August 10, 2022 with Dragon of the Seas

Recommended Posts

There were lots of sailboats especially in the area closer into the city.

There was a surprising amount of traffic on the waterway even out near the end.

The outer most islands depend on larger ferries that carry cars because there are no bridges out here.

There was another cruise ship that was following us out to the open sea.

Someone on the other social media site we can not mention says there are 1356 passengers. [thank you Kim Fridstrom].

I can't tell you the capacity.  But I know that is less than 50%.

Wikipedia says 3600, with 4000 max.

Crew of 1200

I did have trouble this morning.  I gave up and waited a few minutes and it was better. [fingers crossed]  It is still slow loading.

I had better luck uploading from my phone in the public areas.

You sure you are/were on wifi only and the Surf tier?

The download speed for Surf is usually limited to about 500kbps. Even Stream is usually limited to 4Mbps. Yikes at the ping time (usually down to the 600ms range - lower is better).

Biker, who is confused by the numbers.

The download/upload numbers are way better than normal (by 10x) and the ping is a bit worse than normal (by about 50%). In the end, overall performance is the key and if you can read CC and upload pics at a decent rate, that's all that matters.

When that happens, try switching wifi off and back on.  I think the ship's wifi is not good and "hand offs" between access points when you move around.

Its funny to see other people doing a Starbucks mug run on there stops. Thought we where the only ones.

Do they have the You Are Here series? We looked in England, in several places, and no joy. They make great gifts.

We went to the show tonight starring Tony Tillman. He sings, dances and throws in a little comedy. Shows at eight and 10:15 PM in the Royal theater. He did Motown Jazz and rock ‘n’ roll. And after request even did a couple country music songs.

it was a small but enthusiastic audience.

the ship showed the Spider-Man movie “No Way home” twice this afternoon in the main theater. There are a fair number of children on board and that was very popular.

We have crossed the Baltic Sea and have entered the Bay of Riga.

Note the course the Captain had to take out of the archipelago.

I took this picture at 10:05 PM from the Bay  of Riga. Look how light it is. The sun had set but it stays light for more than a half an hour after the sunset. 49618EA2-3AF9-4617-B68D-E3BEC702C661.thumb.jpeg.aa2edc9b085f0bdb450cf1296915caec.jpeg

This is the daily Silja ferry (Silja Serenade or Symphony) to Helsinki.

We where in Europe last in May of 2019,  it was the  You are Here  mugs that where being sold at that time.  I believe that the Been there Mugs where  only in North America.  They did have an England Mug. It was a You are Here.  While we where in Cork Ireland the mug we bought a global Global Icon mug. They did not have the newer style.  We have been collecting for some time so we have all three styles and well as some Relief mugs (black & White) and coffee tumblers.

It's always a bit hit or miss depending on release dates/inventory.  We found a YAH Scotland mug in June in Edinburgh - but no Edinburgh mugs in stock. The Scotland mug is one of my favorite designs because it includes so many Scottish icons.
