Why choose MSC Yacht Club? Is it worth it?

JOYOUS - You can order as much of anything as you want off the menu in the Top Sail Restaurant. Two of this. Three of that. Nine of those... etc. It's all yours for the taking. Including drinks! I may be mistaken, but the ONLY thing that you may not be able to order for "free" at dinner or at the bar(s) is the ultra-high extra-premium liquor... you know, the whiskey or vodka that comes in a $200 bottle kind of stuff.

Perfect I figured the super expensive stuff was off limits from the package even. We are pretty straight forward my wife will ask for the bartender to make something sweet and I will normally be found with Tito's on the rocks.

Thank you for the confirmation.

Lots of vodka choices  Tito's if decent stuff but if you have not yet tried Belvedere give it a try.  One thing we love about decent drink packages is the ability to try lots of items we would not normally try at home.  I will always go through all the available brands of single malt scotch, bourbon, vodka, and cognac.   Life is good!

JOYOUS - I've been a Tito's person as of late. On my last cruise it flowed all day long! Whereas my better half sticks to the mojitos. You'll definitely be happy with the "free" drinks that are included in Yacht Club.

HANK - You are inspiring me to be a little more adventurous. And you're right, there are plenty of drinks I don't buy at home because of their cost... So the Yacht Club is the perfect place to give them all a go. Thanks!

I will say been there done that with most different types of vodkas and especially the well known ones and Tito's is my top choice personally.

To add to your list though ask if they have the Onyx Vodka I think its called which comes in a crystal skull. Its made out of agave and has a hit of the tequila taste to it but not overpowering like actual tequila.

....Bottom line is that YC is great.  It will not be perfect, but you will not want.  Before I go to the Head Butler or YC Director with a service complaint, I always ask myself, "Will I lose sleep over it, or is it worth someone being fired over it?"  I have never come upon a situation that I was able to answer 'Yes' to either question.  Thanks again for all of your insights.

Absolutely spot on, we're definitely with you on that and most everything else you've commented on.

Thanks for setting the record straight, your experience and attitude matches ours.

.....Maybe some good advice to a passenger is to print out the list(s) and highlight the items they are most interested in, then take that list to the concierge on DAY ONE, to see what the current / actual situation is on that ship at that time, then plan accordingly.....

I definitely wouldn't recommend you do that, the Concierge is run off its feet!

That's all warm and fuzzy till after you are paid in full they take you out of yacht club and put you in a balcony on deck 8 with no reduction in fare.

Told if you don't like it cancel.

It's been a year almost and I am still fighting them on this.

Every post I came to, I wondered when you'd finally pitch up! Surprised it was so late, at post #38. 🙄

Please don't misunderstand me, I do believe you were treated in a disgraceful manner. The problem is, you cannot let it go and keep repeating it. So, for those who have heard the story again and again and again.... it becomes wearing to see it once more! 😉

Crystal skull Vodka is the brainchild of Dan Aykroyd and artist John Alexander.

Besides the clear skull, there are Aurora ( borealis) , Onyx , John Alexander - hand painted and Pride.

Onyx is in black skull and made with Blue Weber Agave sourced fro Mexico.

My favorite is the Pride skull, limited edition.

18 way power seats in my cars, set the seat up with the Sales Person on delivery day, push Memory 1 and never change the position again.

🤣    Me too!  I have only changed the setting back to its original once since I took delivery of my Buick.  That was because one of the dealer's employees changed the seat's position to fit him and did not restore it to its original setting (which is what the dealer's service department is expected to have their employees do).  Truly "small potatoes"!

Just curious since I too see you continually posting about this. Have you ever contacted someone at the very top and if so what was their reply? I think if you get no joy there you will never get any.

In the UK we have Antonio Paradiso, you must have an equivalent in the US.

Way up as far as I could then I actually got an attorney and attempted to go after them and found that even more of a kick in the face. The response was even more horrendous.

They will intentionally run up my attorney costs to more than I would recover as no one gets attorney fees.

All I would recover would be difference in fare. But that would be what I paid for YC GS versus "brochure" rate for a balcony. So about $300 😡

I get more satisfaction getting on board and having YC having to deal with it from day one and every day. They will enjoy my 5 YC sailings especially the 17 day cruise coming up.

I always bring my recorded call with notice I am recording stating I should try and deal with it on board.

They dealt with an issue so horribly that they need to make it right.  Follow the T&C....cancel me and give me an upgrade on a future sailing is what T&C states.

The I can do anything I want to you and if you don't like it cancel is a POS way to do business. One month before sailing as well.

Fair enough if that's how you feel.

Personally if I felt that angry  I don't think I would enjoy another holiday with them and it seems very unfair on the YC staff onboard who had nothing to do with it. I'd have taken the refund and never given them another penny of my money.

I could see all of the benefits being very enticing for most people. Myself, I hate being waited on hand and foot so I think the vast majority of the YC would be wasted for me. I like to be left alone (especially if cruising solo), I like to wander the huge ship, enjoying the different bars, hitting different spots and just doing my own thing. I like socializing in the bars at night meeting different people so I would spend little time in the YC area. Give me a nice balcony on a beautiful ship and I'm completely happy.  I guess everyone just looks for different things when cruising.

Eek...😵

I'm with kernow, especially that YC staff onboard do not deserve this! Recommend you take a good, long, hard look in the mirror....you are so much better than to treat innocents in such manner! 😉

That was the plan but a large family cruise all in YC was arranged and paid for by a family member.

Then more stuff sort of out of my control ended up with 5 being booked. All with a TA though.

Yes it's very unfair land says to deal with it on the ship, but that is what they said. Again shows how crappy they can be to get rid of you.

But bringing it up on board has its perks. It has proven so on the last 4 I have taken.

YC realizes that land threw them under the bus after reading the notes. Over 30 pages now.

Always am told that they have someone on land who will contact me within 48 hours. I ask are they lying to me to shut me up and am always assured this time they will call. 😂

Land again makes YC to be the scape goat.

When I call land it's always the exact same thing. Supervisor call within 48-72 and send email to existing reservations.

Never can get past that.

I am only doing what I was advised by land to do.

" A live person needs to deal with this so I suggest you take it up on board "

Even cruise rep in topsail has told me they said that to get rid of me. Again it's the company's fault.

I have lost money on that cruise debacle. Insurance, limo penalty, casino discount and attorney fees. What did it cost them??

They covered their arse from a major suit from a group cruise.

But I am enjoying this now.  It's actually become something I enjoy.

I have a packet I give to them and they always request a meeting with me to resolve it.

Wait till I bump into the same people, that will be fun.

Great product but the CS and IT is so poor.

Just a matter of time.

We have settled 1 issue in full that we beat them at.

2nd issue is actually being worked on now and am awaiting refund and then this issue and all will be well. 2 for 3.

My rule of thumb for purchases like this is YES if your net worth is over $3million and your disposable income after all monthly living is expenses is more than $5K per month.  That is my rule, and thankfully I can do this, but I often don't.  I have sometimes, but normally it is not worth it and seems a bit snobby.  That is just me.

With due respect; dear CC member:

The more I read your statements, the more I'm convinced you're a marketing personnel in service of another cruise line or of some specific TA with problems with MSC... Because some of your posts are simply beyond hateful on the company to be seen as valuable points. Excuse me if I'm being too hard, but this is what I feel on them.

I enjoy coming here all days to discuss the cruising's "order of the day". Sadly some members come here to hijack the forum with personal musings that have nothing to do with the Cruising's "order of the day". As simple as that. And you're far from the unique one, or the worst, for that matter. On your favor; I must say that MSC's land and IT services effectively need a redo. But that has nothing to do with your potential "extreme" problem. Their problems are very well documented here; and are pretty much "standard" on the whole mainstream (European 4* class) tourism industry; not an MSC's exclusive. All of them need to grow at that front. MSC perhaps more than others.

Alas; related to your query: Have you ever heard of what travel insurance means? And by travel insurance I'm not talking about that travel insurance item you already need to pay pretty much everywhere you go from your service provider; I'm talking about independent, specialty and reliable travel insurance from an authorized service provider on that field where you live. At least the next time make us a favor, for us and for yourself: Purchase reliable travel insurance. They'll reimburse you at the contracted terms and they'll keep your queries and deal with them with MSC's (or actually anyone else's) legal department. It's their duty. It is for that they're here. No need to have a specific attorney paid from you asking a giant company for some pennies. The biggie travel insurance company will do it as a day to day basis service. Their "checks and balances" are just a matter of fact and they're there for a reason. Expensive? Yeah! Some 10% of your travel expense, at least here where I live, but it saved me from at least 2 situations. One health related, the other a group land trip I purchased and the provider canceled it altogether with no refund as promised.

Finally: Let us to have this forum to discuss the cruising's "order of the day", please. Posts like this are the culprit of the current CC's relative decline. People aren't interested on those people's ordeals. Of course if you don't like MSC's product: Move on. That's ok on me, as well as I moved on from said "ugly" provider I mentioned above. But I would never to use the social media to discuss its details. There are proper places.

Have a nice day and nice sailings! Hope to see you elsewhere on the high seas!... Life is a 2 days experience. One day to eat and sleep, to other to be had as happily as it can be!... Lots of options on the market that may satisfy you!...

I guess if I was travelling solo I might feel as you do.  However, as a couple I never felt I was waited on "hand and foot."  If was more of a "isn't this nice" feeling.  I guess I can't explain the difference.

NFERR - I think you are a lot like my father, which is totally fine. The YC is not his speed either, and he likes to be out and about, especially to people-watch. So it's all good. It's nice that a cruise ship has so much to offer for different folks with a wide variety of interests. If I ever meet you on a boat, NFERR, I will be happy to sit and chat with you one afternoon.
