You'd sort of think it would be something like that but..... our cruise departing September 16 was advertising check-in date on August 2;  many of us have checked in today and snagged our preferred boarding time.

It may vary by cruise.   I did 3 checkIn' for my upcoming Cruise - New Jersey to Iceland, Iceland to Boston and Boston to Boston.

 

On each of these 3 cruises they opened for check in at Midnight port of departure time 45 days prior to cruise.  The 1st and 3rd opened at Midnight Eastern and the Iceland once opened Midnight Iceland time. 

 

In California I was able to check in at 9:01 PM the day before for the two east coast and the Iceland 5:01 PM the day before. 

 

Just my recent experience and may be different by ship or port.    I also had one that opened a day early and another a week late.  So you just have to give it a try.

I had been checking ours (16th sept) all day today as it said it would open on the 1st… it actually opened around 6pm Montreal time,

I’m guessing you need to check in right away to get the early slots.  Who wants late?

Or sometimes you can check back later and earlier times open.  People want late times  if they are touring their departure port city before boarding, or they are driving to the port  or have a flight that arrives mid-day.

On recent cruises I notice the earliest time slot of 11:00 stayed open for about 2 days.  As others have said I've seen them open more early slots after initial opening so a good idea to check back if you get a later slot.

Yes. 12:01am, check in is open. 

Been there, done that, got the early boarding time!

For our Sept 16 cruise on Solstice, we can do partial check in. But check in time is not yet available.

Is this partial check in common on Celebrity?  I don’t recall seeing much about it.
