Bertie Doe Posted August 8, 2022 #1 Share Posted August 8, 2022 I'm aware that Princess offer a free delivery service to your cabin, if you order from room service. There's nothing like selecting your own choice and portion sizes and eating it while it's still hot 🙄. So will Princess allow you to take your own selection from the buffet? If yes ? I wonder if they'll supply you with a lid, to keep it warm? We're on Island in 3 days, so thanks in anticipation.

Especially when it comes to hot food. You can take food from the buffet to anywhere on the ship you'd like to.
mtnesterz Posted August 8, 2022 #3 Share Posted August 8, 2022 You didn't mention if you had been on the Coral or Island before. There is a lot to be said for enjoying a meal in the quiet of your cabin. The Island, and Coral, have a forward facing buffet with a great view. Our favorite place to eat on all Princess ships. FWIW.

Probably no lids, but ask for one. If not, just place another plate on top as a lid. Also nice to do with like cheese and crackers and snacks like that to have drinks out on your balcony if you have one or just in your cabin while you’re getting ready for dinner.
Ptroxx Posted August 8, 2022 #5 Share Posted August 8, 2022 (edited) I took breakfast back to my room many times. was nice sitting on my balcony eating in quiet. But I also never had a hard time finding a window seat with a view and semi quiet lol. Edited August 8, 2022 by Ptroxx 1
casandbliz Posted August 8, 2022 #6 Share Posted August 8, 2022 We've taken buffet food back to our cabin many times. We usually just use another plate to cover, but I have seen people with nothing over their food 😵
Rare cr8tiv1 Posted August 8, 2022 #7 Share Posted August 8, 2022 Come prepared. There are no trays to transport your meal. Room service trays are pretty big to keep for your use. Please do not leave your soiled dishes in the hallway. Your room steward will carry them away when he/she services your room. 8

Rare CineGraphic Posted August 8, 2022 #10 Share Posted August 8, 2022 If there are no plate covers, disposable shower caps are a cheap, easy way to cover your food as you walk around. 24

I did that once and they sent my cabin steward to pick it up who IMO has enough to do, after that I just put the tray on the ledge near the door and he picked it up in the morning. Rare Paula_MacFan Posted August 8, 2022 #14 Share Posted August 8, 2022 I usually pack a few cheap disposable plate covers from the dollar store (much like the shower cap posted above) in case we need to walk a long way back to our cabin from the buffet. We are big fans of 'sail away time' on our balcony, and like to enjoy the scenery with some cheese and crackers, or chips/salsa/guacamole, etc which we bring back from the buffet. Usually in the late afternoon they will have a nice selection of snack food at the buffet that hits the spot with some cold beverages as we leave that day's port. We also have brought back hot breakfast items from the buffet many times too. Never had a problem 🙂
Jadn13 Posted August 8, 2022 #15 Share Posted August 8, 2022 Keep one of the room service covers, we usually just put one on the shelf in the closet. It also allows us to keep some fresh pastries in the room from the international cafe. 7

Thanks Ptroxx for the food pics. Love the Fjord-like backdrop. Hungry already, the buffets going to get a hammering next week 😁 I only hit the Buffett for breakfast. And once for dinner as the Juneau was closed one night because of the late port stop in Juneau. otherwise was in the Juneau dinning room the rest of the nights with Melvin and Jimmy. Both great servers. I’ve added a few of my meals on discovery last week. with the medallion app you could see the menu before hand that day. I never needed a menu when I sat down. Lolol. Melvin would just ask me what’s for dinner. Lolol. and this was on discovery. 7/31-8/7. Oh yeah. For lunch I just gab some pizza or a hotdog. janroatan Posted August 8, 2022 #18 Share Posted August 8, 2022 (edited) Are the plates at the Buffet melamine or china? Asking as per heat retention of said plates. Edited August 8, 2022 by janroatan

Sort of like Gordon Ramsey testing the Hells Kitchen chefs with making that dish.
