wrk2cruise Posted August 13, 2022 #26 Share Posted August 13, 2022 It made a big difference compared to current pricing, just not to the price I got in May.
Anne614 Posted August 13, 2022 #27 Share Posted August 13, 2022 Wow. I just did a mock booking with this code and price is lower by $900 than what I booked. Without the code price is higher than what I booked. Could I get a price reduction even if the code is for new bookings? Has anyone tried? Cruise is next year. Rare Stockjock Posted August 13, 2022 Author #29 Share Posted August 13, 2022 (edited) How do you guys feel about booking with a non-refundable deposit though? I usually try to avoid those, although if I understand it correctly, the max penalty prior to final payment is $200, which isn't too bad. wrk2cruise Posted August 13, 2022 #30 Share Posted August 13, 2022 If I fully intend to take the sailing I have no problem with the NRD. Yes the max penalty is $100 pp. Since I try to make all my bookings onboard and only pay the $100 pp deposit then it just means I lose the deposit and don't have to worry about the FCC. My thinking is even if I were to cancel 1 out of 3 bookings I make I'd still be ahead due to the refundable upcharge. Anything where I think there is a possibility I might change my mind I do a refundable deposit. Then when closer in and I'm confident if I can reprice a better deal with NRD I do that.
goofysmom99 Posted August 13, 2022 #31 Share Posted August 13, 2022 Thanks for posting the discount code! I just checked one of my bookings for next year (Nov) and it's $1104 less than my current cruise-only fare which has an absurd $1050 OBC. I'll happily forego the OBC, lose the $100 cancelation fee, and rebook (and use the savings to upgrade flight). Since I already receive wifi and bev pkg, I'd been wondering how I was going to use up that much OBC anyway; prefer lower fare to nonrefundable OBC. The $100 OBC will cover some of the gratuities. Anyway, this was a lovely surprise! Thanks again.

I could not without cancelling my 2/24 cruise and rebooking online. I would lose our deposit of $200.00 and be penalized $200.00. We do not save enough to make it worthwhile. Anne614 Posted August 13, 2022 #33 Share Posted August 13, 2022 I just got off the phone with Celebrity. My price was reduced $1500 but lost $800 OBC. Still ahead $700. I also lost premium drinks but I Can upgrade for around $300. A friend of mine is trying use this code now but they are saying it’s only for new bookings. It looks like their isn’t a lot of consistency here.

Friend was waiting on hold for resolutions when original agent came back and said her computer didn’t allow the code but she used another agent’s computer and was able to save her $1000 on her cruise only package and added in all included. 🤷🏻♀️ 4
Rare DCPIV Posted August 14, 2022 #35 Share Posted August 14, 2022 Well, this rocks. Thanks, @Stockjock! I called up and got $642 knocked off a cruise next year after I led them through a mock booking with and without the code. They also added the OBC to that sailing and another that we could not review pricing on (I'll take it).
Oceangoer2 Posted August 14, 2022 #36 Share Posted August 14, 2022 Was anyone able to use this promotion on concierge class, Cdn $$s? I'm inputting both cruises and not having any luck...saying code is invalid.
KCBailey Posted August 14, 2022 #37 Share Posted August 14, 2022 The promo code only works if you book in USD. I usually book in CAD but the savings are significant for the cruise I'm looking at if I use the promo code. You get the $100 OBC but also get the all included perks for the same price as without them. Not sure if there are any downsides if I book in USD but seems worth it. X supervisor said it was an IT error (ya think? 🤣) and those that got this will have adjustments after they've researched them. I kind of doubt anyone at X is good enough to find them. Nevertheless, there has been a pricing drop for my cruise and my net result has been to keep the onboard booking number, have fare reduced by $505, and an additional $120 has been added to my already enormous OBC. I'm pleased but I do NOT understand X's accounting. Edited August 14, 2022 by goofysmom99

If they are going to come back and adjust the price it's not worth booking in USD for just $100 OBC.

(just kidding, dear) Your information about the IT error is interesting, but their intent to go back and make the corrections really caught my eye. What about the customers who cancelled their booking and rebooked (NRD, mind you) the same sailing to get the promotion and the cruise fare discount that came with it? After seeing their new cruise price once the correction is applied, they might want their cancelled booking back.

I totally agree with both of your comments. And if Celebrity does not adopt that approach, let's hope goofysmom99 is right--that maybe no one with Celebrity will be competent enough to find the affected reservations. I think what she told me is rubbish and just something to fill the dead airspace. I should have prefaced this way back at the beginning that my booking is for a C1 cabin which I made July 23rd when I switched an onboard booking from South America to a Transatlantic. I was stunned then at the OBC and truly have no idea how they determined $1050 OBC for an ordinary onboard booking (since it's a TA, only $100 of it is from booking onboard). My $505 price adjustment today is the same fare that's available to anyone today. Don't ask me where the additional $120 OBC has come from. Such a large OBC is somewhat dumbfounding in as much as it's not a suite. But I'll take it....I see massages in my crystal ball 🤗. 1

Maybe it's just some of that awesome Zenith luck that Celebrity seems to be showering you with lately. That reminds me: if you decide to book on board during our Constellation TA cruise, I need to make a point of going with you to book a cruise as well.

I think we all had ridiculous OBC balances due to the price reductions that had been going on. I got a massage every day, spent some time in the casino, went to ever wine/liquor tasting that actually made, and bought some stuff in the shops for my wife. I still couldn't use it all up, so I ended up just dividing the remainder between my butler and room attendant (who truly had earned it, by the way). Enjoy the OBC! The worst thing that can happen is that you get to play Santa Claus around the ship! Edited August 14, 2022 by DCPIV

I wonder why the same perk(s) couldn't be applied when the cruise is paid in Cdn $$s? Could the IT mistake be it wasn't wasn't across the board to all X cruisers? Rare Stockjock Posted August 14, 2022 Author #48 Share Posted August 14, 2022 I don't think this is an IT mistake, but I do think that the more who call Celebrity and discuss it as a potential mistake, the more likely the promo code is to get cancelled.
