Is that because the are registered in the Bahamas or just because they are there?

A few (maybe quite a few) years ago, the bahamian shop keepers were crying that by 1700,

all their customers sailed away.

The cruiselines said they had to leave, to open shops and casinos.

So, the bahamians changed the rules to get ships to stay longer.

I recall one day in princess cay where on onboard shops were open before passengers started going ashore.

I have NEVER seen any shops open on any Princess ship before they leave.

Either the embarkation ports or distant ports.

I am currently on Sky and we had a port this week where the stores and the casino were open all day.I can’t remember which port it was.

Well there you go.

Whatever port it was decided to let the ship operate when they were docked. Most don't since it cuts down on land side sales and gambling.
