bumorgan Posted September 17, 2022 #1 Share Posted September 17, 2022 We are going on Enchanted to New England and Canada next Saturday. Do we need to take a COVID test 2 days prior to starting the cruise even though we are fully vaccinated and boosted because of Canada??

satxdiver Posted September 17, 2022 #3 Share Posted September 17, 2022 We sailed out of NYC (actually Red Hook) last month with stops in Canada. We were required to both get the antigen test and to fill out the ARRIVECan ap before we could board. We had a lot of problems with the ARRIVECan ap and a kind ship officer helped us complete it at the terminal. We were not alone with this problem. Interesting is that he had problems as well getting it filled out and approved.

Do we need to take a COVID test 2 days prior to starting the cruise even though we are fully vaccinated and boosted because of Canada?? The simple answer is YES. It's two days for an antigen test or 72 hours for a molecular test. Canada also has a third option if you tested positive from 10-180 days prior to boarding. I'm not sure how Princess handles option 3. Canada does not require a booster. https://travel.gc.ca/travel-covid/travel-restrictions/cruise#pre-embarkation-test https://travel.gc.ca/travel-covid/travel-restrictions/covid-vaccinated-travellers-entering-canada#determine-fully Edited September 17, 2022 by Jersey42

riffatsea Posted September 18, 2022 #7 Share Posted September 18, 2022 It mey seem difficult but despite all these rules many folk on our nyc to quebec cruise tested positive for covid when they got home. Dh and I were in that covid positive group. It's better to get it at home than have to quarantine on the ship! You can read about that sort of experience if you go to 5he Caribbean princess roll calls
satxdiver Posted September 18, 2022 #8 Share Posted September 18, 2022 We were on the CB last month for a 16 day cruise. Mid cruise the captain announced that there was COVID aboard and asked all of us to wear a mask in inside areas. Most complied but we had a few who refused for some reason. Later heard that several came down with the virus.

You must carefully follow the direction provided by the cruise line for your cruise else be denied boarding. Fully Vaccinated Received primary series of COVID-19 vaccines with final dose at least 14 days before embarkation. Antigen within 2 days OR PCR within 72 hours You also need to do your ArriveCAN registration.

If you test positive, at least you will know before you get on the plane. Whichever works best for you. https://travel.gc.ca/travel-covid/travel-restrictions/cruise#pre-embarkation-test

MamaStang Posted September 21, 2022 #16 Share Posted September 21, 2022 There is word that Canada may not continue the covid test requirement after the current ruling ends at the end of September. I have an October cruise so hoping for the best.

Steven_&_Daniel Posted September 22, 2022 #18 Share Posted September 22, 2022 I installed the ArriveCAN app and see that you cannot fill that out until 72 hours before arriving in Canada. That will be after we board our cruise. So Princess doesn't require this to be done pre-boarding? Because their system won't let you do it that early. We are currently on the Enchanted out of Brooklyn, returning this Saturday. The requirement for this trip was to submit the ArriveCan submission within 72 hours OF EMBARKATION, not before arrival in Canada, which in our case was on day 4 of our cruise. Also, technically, you can fill out most of the required info and save it, as well as uploading vax docs, etc, days or weeks before your trip. You just can't SUBMIT it until withing 72 hours of embarkation. It's easy to enter most data, leaving just a bit of data entry to the last minute. Nobody asked for your ArriveCan code because you uploaded it to the Canadian government before embarkation.

We left Saint John last evening, sailed around past Yarmouth to within a few miles of Halifax, then the Staff Captain came on the PA around 10AM, in the cabins as well as the public areas, to say we were turning around and heading leisurely back to Brooklyn, arriving back on schedule on Saturday. Four sea days instead of the scheduled one, on a ship with barely functional internet service
