CMDE Posted September 19, 2022 #1 Share Posted September 19, 2022 I just received an email from Celebrity with the wording “add this to your Life’s Adventures List”. I thought that was great wording and went on to read the part that says “Leave No Must-See Unseen” - again so promising, and I do like reading about their cruise offers, of course. But then further on in the email, there is the phrase I really don’t like - the “bucket list”! Trivial, I know, and I’ve gotten used to it, but I hate that phrase “bucket list”. Is everyone else used to it?
Rare mom says Posted September 20, 2022 #2 Share Posted September 20, 2022 It's a common term. Doesn't bother me; certainly not enough to start a thread about it; but there no law saying you have to like it. 2
jelayne Posted September 20, 2022 #3 Share Posted September 20, 2022 I’ve had a bucket list for years, have checked off a lot of things but keep adding to the list. Obviously I’m not bothered by the term.
Rare Essiesmom Posted September 20, 2022 #4 Share Posted September 20, 2022 I had a bucket list before the term was coined. I’ve done all the things I could given age and health. EM
temerarious Posted September 20, 2022 #5 Share Posted September 20, 2022 I'm so glad to know there's someone else in the world who doesn't like that phrase - I've always found it tacky. (But I know I'm in the minority - so I just ignore it.) I love the "Life's Adventure List" alternative. 🙂
Rare dlh015 Posted September 20, 2022 #6 Share Posted September 20, 2022 I hate threads that have no purpose. Especially when I'm silly enough to click on them...😑 2
patty1955 Posted September 20, 2022 #7 Share Posted September 20, 2022 I hate post that use abbreviations. Just because someone is too lazy to type out an expression, I should have to google it? Usually, I just go to the next thread.
deliver42 Posted September 20, 2022 #8 Share Posted September 20, 2022 I, too, have had a bucket list for a long time. So far I've been able to do all of it except a TA. We were booked on one pre covid, but that ended that. Can't do it anymore.
mfs2k Posted September 20, 2022 #9 Share Posted September 20, 2022 It’s not as bad as “moist” ”Moist” can get you suspended.
Rare DCPIV Posted September 20, 2022 #10 Share Posted September 20, 2022 I'm not a big fan of it if for no other reason than everyone who says it seems to act like it's clever and original and that no one else ever has heard or said it. I don't know if I've ever said it. Honestly, though, I've spent more time thinking about it in the last minute than I have the rest of my life put together, and that's about enough for me. ChefSha Posted September 20, 2022 #12 Share Posted September 20, 2022 My ‘bucket list’ has pretty tame things so any ideas would be welcomed. Not really bothered by it I guess. Physical limits does make many of those things not do-able, that might be what I don’t like though, but that’s not a reason not to like the phrase I guess. I did cross off 2 bucket list things this summer that I didn’t think I ever would though…jet skiing and kayaking. Not sure what I can do on a cruise in the western Caribbean though. mayleeman Posted September 20, 2022 #13 Share Posted September 20, 2022 I just told my wife we should each come up with a bucket list. She pointed to the dining room ceiling: "I want to get that done." Apparently the concept isn't always to add adventure. Maybe she thought the term "bucket" involves paint.... 1

Tell her she's thinking of a Honey Do List. (Or don't. 😬)
IslaSarah Posted September 21, 2022 #15 Share Posted September 21, 2022 I'm with you on hating the term "bucket list" while liking the concept. I just refer to it as "my list," like "Going to Morocco had never occured to me until I watched the Somebody Feed Phil episode there and now it's on my list!" It's a long list.

Somebody Feed Phil - AWESOME program and so glad Netflix renewed it, I think the new season drops Oct 18.
