I think the compensation for the inconvenience is pretty reasonable. I don't remember how many cabins Vista has but they had to have spent at least $50-$100K in OBC ship-wide to keep everyone happy. Seems fair.
sgttami Posted October 6, 2022 #27 Share Posted October 6, 2022 Aggravating, I'm sure but on a cruise I'd just go with the flow (or lack, thereof). Ten days without hot water/utiiities during Storm Sandy convinced me that a cold water shower beats none at all. Hope it gets fixed and everyone can be happy again (LOL)
CeleBrat Posted October 6, 2022 #28 Share Posted October 6, 2022 In a situation like this, I bet very few of the guests who are complaining at Guest Services, take a moment to realize that the crew is also without hot water, and in the very-same situation as the passengers.
JandJinTX Posted October 6, 2022 #29 Share Posted October 6, 2022 Back on board from Cozumel and no hot water once again…………. Hopefully they get it straightened out soon. Those cold showers suck. And yeah, guest services is swamped….lol

Yes, but you go with what you are dealt with. Ship happens. At home and on vacation and anywhere in between. No sense in complaining over something you have no control over. Not worth the stress! 3 1

workfromship Posted October 7, 2022 Author #33 Share Posted October 7, 2022 Hot water is out once again! On the bright side, we got another note in our cabin that we would be getting an additional $100/cabin in OBC for a total of $200/cabin! There's one full day left and most specialty dining is booked solid for the rest of the cruise so I'm not sure what we're going to use the additional spend on...but it certainly is a nice gesture. I'm also aware that if you don't have hot water to begin with, most commercial models don't boost the temp enough to make it go from room temp to where it would need to be to sanitize the dishes. But if you care to enlighten me, feel free As usual, Cheng enlightened all of us. 🙂

msunrullieone Posted October 7, 2022 #37 Share Posted October 7, 2022 We just got off the Breeze today. We didn't have any cold water for several hours on Monday. But they fixed it while most people were off ship in Costa Maya. Hope Vista gets it fixed soon for y'all!

quattrohead Posted October 8, 2022 #41 Share Posted October 8, 2022 Vista sounds like a poorly ship, she seem's to be the Friday afternoon build. If I was part of the VSP I would be paying close attention to Vista.
jesscruzer Posted October 9, 2022 #42 Share Posted October 9, 2022 I was on this cruise as well. My cabin was without hot water since the original announcement. Many others said they had had water after a few hours and no problems for the remainder of the cruise. Full disclosure-I'm not an engineer but I'd assume the explanation is they have multiple boilers that service different areas of the ship. The line at guest service was ridiculous every day with Karens complaining.

Certain things are expected and hot water is one of them. Name calling isn't really a good look. I've been kind of surprised at the level of nonchalance in this thread. I know a lot of people like to complain about a lot of really petty stuff, but I don't count hot water - or running water at all - to be among the petty stuff.

Par for the course really on this forum. I imagine most of them would be singing a different tune if they were actually on the ship. It's easy to say you wouldn't be bothered when you're not having to deal with the problem firsthand. Edited October 9, 2022 by mz-s

As I've learned on Cruise Critic, the only two reasons people go to Guest Services is to get tips removed or to get extra keys made. I go to get change for the ports and free playing cards (which is done away with now).

You spend the time and money to take a vacation on a modern cruise ship and you have no hot water? I would not be happy.
