Shoe repair on a ship

I  suspect there is someone who can do needed repairs for officers and crew.  Might a passenger be able to request a basic fix (buckle that comes off, etc.) while on a cruise?

There is almost always a tailor, but not a cobbler.  The tailor may be able to stitch up some leather, if not too thick.

On the QM2 we had my DW shoe fixed. 

 

Our stewardess sent to the machine engineer shop to have fixed.

Totally off topic..but that is the excuse I use for taking more shoes than I actually need, in case one breaks !!

 

I have read on here that people have had suitcase wheels/ handles repaired on ships, so there must be some sort of ‘handyman’ who could help out in an emergency.

🤦‍♂️, must be my hearing loss, I thought it was "Is there a gobbler in the house?" because it was a Thanksgiving cruise. 🤣

On our last Viking cruise, our cabin steward noted DW's sandals were requiring repairs. He took them away and returned a couple days later and they were repaired. Another pax on the same cruise put sandals in the bin. The cabin steward rescued them and had them repaired, returning them a couple of days later.

 

However, as the Chief mentioned, this isn't always available.
