I heard they are unfortunately still allowing smoking at the machines (not the tables) in the casino and people come in and just sit at a machine to smoke instead of going outside.

New question.

Are the cabin walls still metal like the other ships so we can bring magnets to hang items?

Yes, they definitely are.

They left the Sanctuary out of the Sanctuary.

I've book Sanctuary on every Princess voyage I have ever taken.

Not this one!🫣

Hi everyone, it's been helpful reading everything that everyone is sharing, have a 21 day booked for August and haven't read this yet but have a question, is the laundry room washers, dryers, detergent and softener free or at a cost, it's been several years since cruising princess and in the past the use of machines was free but the detergent and softener you had a little vending machine which you paid and got what you needed, definitely a great thing to have especially on a 21 day cruise, less clothes to pack.

Thanks in advance

It’s still the same but on princess you can get detergent and softener using your medallion.

I saw that the American Diner has bacon and eggs on the menu. Do you know if that is available at dinner time? I would love that.

Here is the menu for American Diner:

Thanks for all the videos, they help a lot. Please though, and maybe it's just me, but my eyes are side by side and they would really prefer videos taken with the phone horizontal so we can see more detail!

With the Sun being not only a new ship but a new design the pros and cons about the ship isn't surprising. Maybe the length of some of the con's per subject is. What is surprising is the lack of pictures of the ship being posted here. Don't get me wrong I like the pictures that have been posted but to be honest I thought I would see more. Everyone talks about FB. I don't have an FB account. Ytube I get it. I guess I will have to wait and experience it myself in October and then November next year see if any changes were made to the Star.

About this.

same as you, surprised that most pics etc are coming from other sites.

I have removed all my photos from the private cruise groups I participated in on fb. Had no idea others could lift my photos and repost elsewhere.

Fb friends have been very generous in sharing this week on the SUN.

One group of employees, who have gone above and beyond in their job, to protect the corporation form any passenger lawsuits is the Legal Department.  This morning I turned on the television and clicked on the WEATHER icon.  At first I couldn’t stop laughing, but then I realized how sad it has become…when it is  necessary to say “WEATHER IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE”.

Then I decided to pull up the map to see where the ship is currently located.  After clicking the map icon this is what appears on the screen (every time).  This lengthly disclaimer advising the passenger that Princess isn’t liable for anything on the map they are about to see, or the location of the ship.

I’m surprised they don’t have signs posted in all the dining venues, warning that hot beverages are dangerous, and can cause severe burns…drink at your own peril!  😫

To the person who asked it there are self-serve beverage stations in The Eatery (buffet).  The answer is NO.  However, I spoke with a buffet supervisor today, and she told me that they have been receiving countless complaints about this.  So, notification about this has been sent to upper management at Princess, asking if something can be done retroactively, to add them.  At least they are listening here at the ship level…corporate management is anyone’s guess

I spoke with the Cruise Director this evening, and asked if they had a timetable for the completion of the theater.  Sadly, they don’t.  I’ve been sneaking in there every day, to see how much progress is being made.  All the workers are speaking Italian, so I’m assuming they are from the shipyard.  The picture below is from late this afternoon.  The table with all the laptops on the stage makes me think that they are working on setting up all the lighting, sound, and other electronic technology.  If that is the case, then after all that is installed, the wizards from the production company would need to come in and program all the lighting and sound for each of the production shows.  I find it difficult to believe that all the shows will be up and running for at least 2 or 3 more sailings.

Once inside the elevator how do you pick your destination floor?

It's chosen - outside - before you enter the assigned elevator car.

You pick the deck you want to go to outside and it tells you what elevator to get on.

So for everyone on the ship currently: without the shows running are you still finding that there’s plenty to do or is it boring in the evenings?  Hopefully Princess has come up with some other entertainment…I saw some shows were running in the piazza and the pub.  Anything else?

Up until this 1st sailing there has been nothing available on the Princess Answers (the place where Princess representatives and travel agents go to find answers to your questions) about The Butcher’s Block Restaurant, other than family style and high end meat being served.  I’m sure that I wasn’t the only one who was leery to make a reservation without knowing all the specifics.  Here is the scoop:

The far aft end of The Eatery is transformed into two of the specialty dining venues each evening.  The Butcher’s Block on the port side, and The Catch on the starboard side.  Here is what the Butcher’s Block area looks like:

FullSizeRender.thumb.jpeg.2ad322e0761b92196ac227a526c198fe.jpeg

The original description said the experience was going to be one long communal table being served family style.  That has changed to a multitude of tables, where passengers will be “sharing” tables, in order to maximize the space available.  Waiters and a butcher will then come around, presenting the various courses of platters of food, from which you would select your choices.  Here is the menu:

In the picture below, the platters on the right are the beef tartare, the platters on the left are the rump roast carpaccio.

FullSizeRender.thumb.jpeg.3f42b96f0d2bae7f2fb667b70795ae0f.jpeg

The main course consists of 3 types of steak, which the butcher will explain and carve based on your choice(s).  They can be see in the photo below in the “raw state”.

You can see on the menu, there are also sides to choose from, other items like bread, a salad, etc.  You also get a desert and complimentary red wine.

This looks like a unique and good deal for carnivore passengers.  The manager said it is being very well received so far, and everyone has been leaving “fully” satisfied.  Sorry for the pun!

There is a fee for washer & dryer ($3.50 each?) in addition to purchasing detergent.
