It seems Crown and Anchor will match a travelling companion for the cruise.

My sister just did it on 3 cruises with her boyfriend and on different cruise for her girlfriend. They were bumped up to diamond for the cruise .

Apparently they have have be a C&A member and be in the same cabin. They got 4 free drinks, onboard discount, their card opened the diamond lounge and even got the $5 casino Promo. But they go back to their original status after the cruise.

Has anyone else had experience with this?

IF (big if) this happened it was wrong and shouldn’t have happened; unless your sister and her boyfriend share the same address.

I am confused.

The boyfriend for 30 years lives with her but the girlfriend doesn’t.

They both went back to their original status which was gold and Platinum after the cruise.

I was thinking , before the pandemic. I was told by the Diamond concierge that a travelling companion is welcome to join you in the diamond lounge.

So since the voucher system come in your travelling companion can join you for drinks with their own vouchers ??

I just thought someone knew a bit about it.

What a shame, after so many of us followed the rules for all these years.

Royal has only been operating for a few months in Australia since the pandemic.

But before the pandemic they stopped linking family members. I know they do set up a family group in America but not in Australia.

In compensation we could take our spouse, partner or cabin mate into the diamond lounge.
We seem to have some variation here.

My sister said it wasn’t automatic, she had to go to the loyalty Ambassador and ask. The L.A gave her friends a new seacards which had diamond on it.

That sounds like a variation of the Celebrity policy where the cabin mate gets the perks.

I know some here are going to breath fire but don’t shoot the messenger.

Im not a 100% but that’s what my sister said.

IF you thought this was an Australia specific policy, you probably should have put that in the title and in the first sentence of the original post.  The vast majority of people on these boards are not Australian.  I’m unlikely to discover if C&A policies are managed differently for cabinmates on Australian cruises; even if we go, we will both be same C&A level

Does Royal have separate rules for other countries?

For some things, sure. For C&A, usually not. Other Aussie cruisers would have to chime in with their experience to see if this was just some very accommodating LA or some policy change.

It seems to be a new thing and I just thought our American friend had some knowledge about it . We have only started our season a few months ago.

If fact on my cruise last week I know I had a letter about not being allowed to bring friends into the diamond lounge. Might still have the letter, but our diamond lounge was already overflowing.

Perhaps this is a preview of one change that the new CAS director has eluded will be announced in January.

If so, a single Pinnacle member may be in high demand to share a cabin with.  🤣🤣😇

Adds a new level of wife-swapping opportunity if traveling with another non-Diamond couple.  Book each with a Diamond member in different cabins.  Everyone gets drinks!

Maybe someone should test it in North America.

Ask the LA about your travelling companion.

LOL, North Americans get letters in our cabins telling us we cannot even bring our friends and cabinmates into the Diamond lounge.  If we go the LA asking the LA to make them Diamond for the cruise, the LA will look at us like we might have two heads!
