The $2.00 bill saga.

Well seems that 2.00 bills are a lot more common than people actually think.
I just got change from the casino on the Joy on my 15 day Panama cruise.
And guess what.   The cashier had a huge stack of 2.00 bills.  Brand new.
So for those that think they are not as common as other bills.  Think again.
I stocked up for my next 2 cruises after this one.

I’m guessing the casino takes them from the crew in exchange for easier to spend money.  Then they get rid of them by giving them out casino patrons.

I know they can get cash for chips given as tips.

These are all brand bill new in a band.  They didn’t come from crew or patrons.
he said people ask for them all the time.

Not at all.  These bills were brand new in a band.   They didn’t come from a crew member.

Well if all they have is brand new bills in a bank band, then they obviously aren't being used on a regular basis.

Lolol. Obviously if they have loose and banded bills they are being used.   But hey you think what you want.
It’s fun seeing silly comments like yours.

Have you ever actually asked a staff member which they would prefer? (2 $1 bills or 1 $2 bill) I think that’s what matters

With these threads, it’s all about the giver. I don’t think they ever care what the staff prefers. 🥱

I have.   Just today when I tipped my room steward for ice I gave him 5.00. 2x2.00 and a single.     I asked him if he had issues with the 2.00 bills.  He said not a problem at all.
I’ve also asked this question last year on another cruise.   No issues at all.  Was told it all

spends the same way.

Not true.  I’ve asked multipal times on different lines.   They all say the same thing.    It all spends the same way.

As long as you realize that there are some cultures that consider $2 bills bad luck and by giving them a $2 you are wishing them bad luck.

I’ve give these out all over the world.    No issues.  And didn’t get my head cut off.

I had 50 brand new $2 bills about 10 years ago on a cruise on NCL.  I thought the crew would be delighted with them as a tip for a drink.  Most looked at them a bit suspiciously - they weren't very common.  And being new, some staff members thought they were fake.  I assured them they could be used like $1 bills, but I never made my bank get them for me again.

You want people to look at you funny, try to spend an old style 20. They look so fake nowadays. While I’ve never specifically asked this question, I suspect cabin attendants would be more than happy if you offered one up as a tip for ice. For the record, I’ve never tipped $20 for ice, but if I wanted t, I wouldn’t hesitate to use funny looking bills.
