Please Help with flying to Europe for Cruise

When on a 777 we usually pick seats in the center section 3-4-3. that way hopefully one of you can have an end seat.  Easier for bathroom visits in the middle of the night.  If for any reason you need a little more time for boarding go with the early boarding group when they call for those needing extra time that way you can get your bag in the overhead.  If you’re running between flights you definitely do not want to gate check it!  We traveled on a 2 week cruise and a week land trip in rollaboards last summer. We only did that because of huge fiasco at Schipol.  It’s definitely doable but you really need to plan wardrobe.
Glad you got your flights.

BA reservation says  All passengers must have a seat before you can continue

The question is for this particular flight BA266 or BA0266 which rows of seats have equipment boxes underneath them.   Since we're not checking bag and we're traveling for almost two weeks we need to be able to put a bag underneath seat in front of us.   Is there any way to tell?

Maybe ask on FlyerTalk for BA?  Be warned, sometimes they can be a little "sharp" on that board.

BA has a couple of different models of 777.  They have the 777-200 and 777-300.  They also have different layouts.

This website will have some recommendations and this is the likely configuration on that route if it is a 200:

https://www.seatguru.com/airlines/British_Airways/British_Airways_Boeing_777-200B_2.php

I rarely fly BA these days so I can't tell you where the electronic boxes are.  If they put the effort in last time they refurbished the aircraft that be under the floor.

I would not be overly worried about it.  It is always good to follow the rules however if you get on there and it does not fit under the seat they will likely find some space in the overhead bins somewhere for it.   These widebody aircraft have a lot more bin space than your use to on the small aircraft and with free baggage more people are checking bags.

Seatguru is owned by TripAdvisor, which also owns Cruise Critic.

That being said....Seatguru has gone downhill since that acquisition.  At first, slowly.  Now, it is about equal parts correct and incorrect information. Newer aircraft and reconfigured ones may or may not be showing correct interiors. Some airlines don''t even have all aircraft types shown.  Several competing sites include seatmaps.com, seatlink.com and aerolopa.com.

Caveat Emptor.

You could also do aisle-aisle. I have started doing that on 3 and 4 abreast sections. You'll each have to sit next to a stranger---but only on one side.

We are also from Portland.  Spent the night at the TWA hotel in JFK over Thanksgiving before an early flight and just loved the whole experience!  My husband, who is big on "WE NEED A NONSTOP FLIGHT" even said he would consider a stopover if we could stay there again.

Glad to see this😀...I am staying there in April for one night. Great to know how much you enjoyed it😀

Some cruise lines, such as NCL offer pretty decent air prices if you allow them to choose your flights.  BA is an interesting airline in that they usually do not let you choose seats unless you pay an extra fee (even in Business Class), have special status, or are within 24 hours of your flight.  Many times we have noticed that their BA web site will actually allow you to pick seats, but you will later find they have not been assigned or confirmed.

As to finding the equipment boxes, you will often find that information by using seatguru.com.  You will need to know the type aircraft and configuration (you can usually figure this out from the seating maps).
