Rare pinotlover Posted January 31, 2023 #3 Share Posted January 31, 2023 Champagne is a sparkling WINE, from the French region of Champagne . Wines on the By the Glass menu are included in the package. A Champagne is normally included on the list. Sometimes other sparkling wines are also on the list.

honumaui Posted February 1, 2023 #5 Share Posted February 1, 2023 We love lots of different red and white wines and got the basic beverage package. We were surprised on how many good wines ( in our humble opinions) were included. We were very pleased with the beverage service too. Usually did not have to ask for refills. They were serving a champagne but we don't drink it so I don't know if it was a good one.

They I agree - the service by the “sommeliers” during meals was for the most part excellent. We made a habit of talking to them, getting to know them and asking their opinion for food/wine pairings. It is fascinating getting to know their background and training. Say hello to “Zimbabwe” (his home country) on Riviera.
Rare DCGuy64 Posted February 1, 2023 #7 Share Posted February 1, 2023 Thank you for this. We are new to Oceania and are taking our first cruise with them in April. Still have to figure out the restaurant opening times, but I imagine that is discussed elsewhere on this site.

I've looked around but can't find what I'm looking for. What I was told by Oceania is that the upgrade is $30 pppd if you take O Life Select and you upgrade before boarding. If you wait until you board, the upgrade is $40 pppd. It's not a huge deal really, but while buying the House Select package pre-cruise costs $39.95, they only 'credit' you $29.95 for it if you upgrade to Prestige. 9 hours ago, basor said: The house select beverage package will also get you champagne/mimosas at breakfast and port at any meal besides wine and beer during lunch and dinner serving hours... Really? This is a game changer for me. I thought I'd read that the House Select only covers those drinks at lunch and dinner. Didn't know breakfast counted, too. Thanks for this! There seems to be several acts from untrained staff that I wouldn’t take as policy. Free drinks at breakfast is not policy so don’t expect it. Reference port at dinner. A port is not always on the wine by the glass menu, so not always covered by the basic package. Oceania does usually try to have one dessert wine on that menu be it port, vin Santo, Auslese, or other.

We will be doing lots of excursions with a lot of walking, so I can't see getting hammered at breakfast every day, regardless. I will say that given this is by far the most expensive cruise we've ever done, we were hoping for more reliable information from the cruise line, but it's not to be. They've told us it HAS to be done onboard, not before, and that there's no pro-rating, meaning that if we wait until day 2 of the cruise, we'd be on the hook for the entirety of the cruise, aka 10 days. So frustrating. At this point I won't be upgrading at all. It's very port intensive, no sea days at all IIRC. I can't see getting my money's worth, but we are very excited about the cruise itself. 😊

We chose the O Life Beverage package because it seemed a better value to us than the other offers. I like the convenience of the beer/wine/champagne at mealtimes. I'm aware of the happy hours and the ability to bring stuff aboard, it's more about being able to get a cocktail any time of day. We'll figure it out. We know this will be a memorable vacation and are really excited about trying Oceania. Everyone raves about the food. We can't wait. 🙂

It depends on the waiter We have both had the same glass of wine & shared the 2 for 1 pricing but other times they have brought 1 glass each then another before we sign the chit so we just take it to dinner (or they carry it into the GDR room for us ) 😉
honumaui Posted February 3, 2023 #24 Share Posted February 3, 2023 When we have ordered the same drink we got both for the price of one. It has never seemed to matter if it was for one or both of us. If they were different we got two of each for the price of two.

I see that O has a very extensive and nice-looking list of wines by the drink. Last year while in Venice we did an all-day tour of the Prosecco Hills and learned so much about our favorite sparkling wine. Good to see a Prosecco on the list. The Prosecco region produces more bottles of sparkling wine per year than the French do. We are new to Oceania with our first cruise booked in 2025, we chose to take the Bev package with our O Life booking after reading about it on CC.
