blade3 Posted February 1, 2023 #1 Share Posted February 1, 2023 I will have too much onboard credit on an upcoming cruise. Don't want to buy shore excursions or items onboard. Have heard of a way to get onboard credit through limited casino play. How is this accomplished? Thank you for any advice.
blackshirt Posted February 2, 2023 #2 Share Posted February 2, 2023 That depends on the ship. You may be able to charge directly to your account at a machine or you might need to go the cashier for a voucher. Identify what ship you are on and I’m sure someone will know or search the forum for similar threads, there are several. That’s how I found out how to use OBC in the casino on Solstice. All I can say is it isn't a smart idea to talk about ways to get around a loophole that may or may not exist. There is a good chance it could be closed should Celebrity determine the abuse. It is better to e-mail someone that has a link to an email in their signature or do a search.

Blade - the first question is if the OBC if from Celebrity which is likely not refundable or your TA which most likely will be refunded to your credit card or given out in cash on the last day if not used on board.
Rare cruisestitch Posted February 2, 2023 #8 Share Posted February 2, 2023 Because this gets asked so often I've compiled a list of things to spend OBC on. The only thing I know of now that you CAN'T buy with OBC is a deposit on a Future Cruise. You need a credit card for that. Also, there may be some card game in the casino with a cash only buy-in. If they do a fundraiser, like selling t-shirts to “save the reefs” and the like, expect to need cash for that. Otherwise, here you go: *Acupuncture *Airport transfers *Alcove Rental (some ships) *Apple products etc. and Ilounge classes *Art Auction Purchases *Babysitting *Barber Shop services *Behind the Scenes Tours *Beverages -- Alcoholic, carbonated soft drinks, specialty coffees and teas, bottled water — if not in your package, also beverages above your package limits *Bingo and Deal or No Deal *Bottles of wine *Casino *Chef’s Table *Corkage charged if you bring your own bottles of wine to the MDR *Duty free liquor and cigarettes *Extra cost entrees and other items in Main Dining Room and specialty restaurants *Extend Your Stay program *Fitness classes *Flowers *Gelato *Gift shop souvenirs, purses, watches, cosmetics, clothing, jewelry, etc. *Gratuities, and extra gratuities *Guests dining with you in Luminae (applies to Suite Passengers only) *Guest entertainers' CD's and DVD's *Hair and nail salon *Hollywood hot glass experiences (some ships) *Internet if not in your package, also Internet upcharges *Laundry/pressing/drycleaning *Liquor Tasting events *Luggage Valet *Martini Flights *Medical Center purchases *Mini bar *Portrait photo sessions *Pay-per-view movies *Persian Gardens passes *Personal Training Sessions *Photos & cameras *Room service up charge items, and late night delivery fee *Ryde spinning classes *Shore Excursions *Shuttle to town (some ports) *Spa -- massages and treatments *Specialty restaurants *Teeth Whitening *Telephone calls using ship's system *Transfer to another passenger's account *Voyage in Review DVD *Wine and liquor tastings *Zumba 2

Agree that the Refundable will either come back to your credit card or you can go to front desk an ask to cash it out. Recently I was told at the front desk they would only do the cash out on the last day of the cruise. Personally I like to cash out as with my Chase Sapphire Card I get Triple Points for travel and if they process a credit they claw back the points.

Babr Posted February 2, 2023 #13 Share Posted February 2, 2023 In a current thread from the Beyond, David Kane posted a FAQ with a question about OBC. The answer states that credits can be used for promotional chips or slots, but they can’t be cashed out. See page 2. The document is posted sideways and is easy to overlook. Does that close the loophole?

Yes, but the subject is how to use them in the casino to cash out excess OBC. Just curious. Never mind. I don’t want to get into an inappropriate discussion, and it would take a lot of explaining for me because I don’t know the first thing about the casino. I only ever enter it to pass through on my way somewhere else. I’ll use the list to find other ways to use it.

bstoeck Posted February 3, 2023 #24 Share Posted February 3, 2023 I have a small wallet sized card the Casino staff gave me while on the Summit last week with the steps to take cash from the slot machines and it worked like a charm: Tap your Seapass Card Choose Account option Touch Personal Banker button Enter 4 digit PIN (your Month and Day of Birth) Touch Transfer to Game button Select Promo ($) Select amount "Other" button (this is where you enter your on board Credit amount) then hit CASH OUT and take ticket to Casino cashier This works on most Celebrity ships - I also did this recently on the Silhouette and Equinox with no issues.
